The story misses the main point- if the kids were in class doing regular class work, this would not have happened. One more liberal outside organization (central blood bank) getting their hooks into kids. Teachers are fine with this - an assembly is easier than teaching.

Central Blood Bank people are commies? Blood donors save lives its one of the best things you can do for your community that doesn’t cost you a dime.

The whole purpose of public school these days seems to be assemblies to indoctrinate the kids for 12 years. Whether in a large group setting or in classes of 40.
