President Obama on Friday defended the Democrats' healthcare law, saying the enormous expansion of insurance coverage made an increase in healthcare spending inevitable.
"As a consequence of us getting 30 million additional people healthcare, at the margins that's going to increase our costs - we knew that," the president told reporters during a White House press conference.
"We didn't think that we were going to cover 30 million people for free."

WASHINGTON — Continuing to promote his plan for the nation’s health care system, Wednesday, President Barack Obama urged significant reform in medical insurance coverage in order to save Americans money.
“Deferring reform is nothing more than defending the status quo,” he said. “And those who would oppose our efforts should take a hard look at just what it is they’re defending.”
Speaking in the Rose Garden at the White House, Obama painted a dreary picture of soaring premiums, deductibles and other costs without reform.
With his health care revamp, however, he vowed, “You’ll save money.”
“If you lose your job, change your job, or start a new business, you’ll still be able to find quality health insurance you can afford,” Obama said.

Unfortunately, Republicans aren't too bright, and politicians never look through the voters' eyes.
Obama said health care reform will reduce the cost of health care
After meeting with Senate Democrats on Dec. 15, President Barack Obama made a number of claims about what the health care bill would achieve if passed.
“We agree on reforms that will finally reduce the costs of health care,” Obama said. “Families will save on their premiums; businesses that will see their costs rise if we do nothing will save money now and in the future. This plan will strengthen Medicare and extend the life of that program. And because it gets rid of the waste and inefficiencies in our health care system, this will be the largest deficit reduction plan in over a decade.
“Now, I just want to repeat this because there’s so much misinformation about the cost issue here. You talk to every health care economist out there and they will tell you that whatever ideas are — whatever ideas exist in terms of bending the cost curve and starting to reduce costs for families, businesses, and government, those elements are in this bill.”

Obama is the kind of psychopath who lies without compunction, with no emotion, with no consciousness of guilt -— he knows enough to try to appear like an honest person to get what he wants, but he lacks a genuine conscience and so without immediate external cues of what to say and do he will act without conscience.
