Bill McKibben, an environmental campaigner from Vermont with a flair for showmanship, was rebuffed Friday morning in his effort to get the White House to reinstall one of the solar panels that President Jimmy Carter had placed on the White House roof.

Heck Obama doesn't want COLD showers. Solar has always been and continues to be inefficient. You, the SERF, though are supposed to embrace it and live “green”. It's good enough for YOU.

Zippy likes it really warm in the winter - and DC doesn’t really get much direct solar rays in the winter.
Like you said, it’s ok for the rest of us to take cold showers and freeze in the winter -
What a guy!

No, he's not green; nor is he white; nor is he black. He is a chameleon, changing instantly to blend in with his surroundings at any given point in time.
He has degraded his own power and influence to that of a fart in a hurricaine. Neither side has any respect for him which is weird. He was given tons of "artificial" respect based solely on his list of "gonna-do's", which never happened. He even managed to grapple onto a Nobel peace prize - for nothing other than being the first black president.
Personally, I don't get too excited over solar panels myself, but the fact that his hard-left tree huggers are getting their organic panties in a wad over this, is funny.
The really strange part is, they are all warped out over these solar panels, yet they don't say a word whenever obozo cranks up Air Force One to go on "campaign" stops - usually to avoid something he doesn't want to do, like be in Washington when the TEA party movement is in town. Not a peep from them when he wasted time, money, and "carbon credits" flying his damn dog to Maine on a private jet.
But, boy...you take down those solor panels that Jimmuh put up in the 70's to appease the environmentalists, and the left goes nuts. Well, not "goes"...they were nuts to begin with.

But but but if the White Crib goes green, the ocean’s level will drop instantly. Didn’t Barry read his own speech, or was TOTUS caught in a lie again?

green is wrong color. obama is waiting for a non-white man to install a solar panel as the ultimate goal is black not green.
To: PROCON
Were those solar panels ever actually OPERABLE, or were they 'dummies', like Jimmah empty suitcases, which he always carried, acting like he was a regular guy, while the Secret Service actually carried his stuff?
Even if they WERE operable back in the late 1970s, they certainly wouldn't be useful today.

solar is the one area i really wouldn't mind tax dollars to goto R&D developing high efficiency roof mounted panels that will work in the northeast winters(well winters anywhere) that could produce at least 66%-75% of required household load
i think that would go farther to reduce coal/oil use than anything else i can think of...

I think those solar panels were actually on the west wing and not the original white house itself, anyway.

The panels don’t fit on the minarets Obama has planned for the White House.

It takes a large amount of solar paneling to generate the quantity of power to pay off, or make a significant dent in a home’s grid consumption. Hybridizing solar and hydrogen for a 1,000 square foot home for zero grid use is over $1 million for that home’s price tag as well.
I would recommend Obama authorize the capital region get powered by nuclear power plants, that would be cheaper and pay a lot more for itself, plus the “clean power” is more affordable for more people, and integrated into the general power grid.
To: Chode
Partially agreed Chode, the question I have is, we have had an ever-improving option for the power grid as a whole: nuclear energy. If a grid gets it from nuclear, general customers get the “clean” dividend - everyone receiving power from the nuclear power plant.
To: Morpheus2009
i'm all for nuclear power... getting them built is another story, same as new oil refineries

Jimmy Carter wore a sweater, Barky likes the White House heated like his hometown in Indonesia. It would take 20 acres of solar panels. He has got to have the highest utility bills of any President, higher than loser-man Gore’s mansion.
