solar is the one area i really wouldn't mind tax dollars to goto R&D developing high efficiency roof mounted panels that will work in the northeast winters(well winters anywhere) that could produce at least 66%-75% of required household load i think that would go farther to reduce coal/oil use than anything else i can think of...
