Black Democratic leaders from Broward said Republican governor candidate Rick Scott made a smart move by picking a black candidate, state Rep. Jennifer Carroll of Jacksonville, as his running mate.

Overheard from the meeting: “She’s an Uncle Tom! Er, I mean an Aunt Jemimah! Er, I mean . . . What do I mean, anyway? But whatever I mean, we can’t permit this to happen!”
Black friends of mine have said that describing a black person as “articulate” is actually a pretty racist thing to say, because you’re saying by omission that most other blacks are not articulate. As if it’s some sort of surprise that a black person can speak clearly.
Unfortunately many people in the black and spanish communities think that if someone speaks clearly they’re “talking white” or “acting white.” So what you end up with is a black person that speaks clearly to white audiences and changes the way they speak when speaking to black audiences. Obama does it. Michael Steele does it. They almost all do it. Alan Keyes doesn’t, but he’s probably the only one I can think of that doesn’t.
Cool. The only ray a Democrat can avoid being a Racist Bigot is vote for Scott.
Personally, I adjust for my audience which allows me to fit into diverse groups.
I find this story a little annoying because it mentions NOTHING about her political career, legislative record, what she has accomplished, the issues she has championed, why he chose her, etc. It just focuses on her color and condescends. What is wrong with this picture?
Rep. Perry Thurston, “D-Plantation”
——she’s from where???
You forgot to mention the “first black first lady”, Hillary Clinton does it too
Hah! I didn't catch that... Is that real?
Perfect name for a district of an American with black skin, who happens to be a member of the democrat party (i.e., kept on the Plantation).
Factoid: Rep. Jennifer Carroll is the mother of Nolan Carroll, the kickoff returner drafted by the Miami Dolphins.
We lived in Plantation when I was a kid. It’s a nice suburb of Ft. Lauderdale.

Jennifer Carroll (born August 27, 1959) is a Florida Republican politician, business woman, and retired Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy who serves as the District 13 Representative in the House of Representatives of the State of Florida. She was first elected to the Florida House in a special election in April 2003. On September 2, 2010 she became the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor of Florida in the November 2010 general election, as gubernatorial nominee Rick Scott introduced her as his choice for running mate.
Carroll was born in Port of Spain on the island of Trinidad. She served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation maintenance officer for twenty years, from 1979 to 1999.[1] In 1981, she received an Associate of Arts degree from Leeward Community College. She followed this in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of New Mexico. She moved to Florida in 1986. She then received her Master of Business Administration degree from St. Leo University in 1991.
She has been elected successively to the Florida House since winning a special election in April 2003, when she became the first black female Republican ever elected to the Florida Legislature.

Florida CFO Alex Sink, aka Sinkhole, is a tax and spend Obama Democrat. She would push for a state income tax and other new taxes, which would make Florida’s unemployment and foreclosure rates jump even higher. They are already higher than most states! Sink even thinks Obama is doing a good job. She flunks the IQ test.
Sounds like a great choice. Incidentally, it was a black Dem who said she was “articulate.”
AND CLEAN!!! ... yes, a very, um, prejudicial way to praise a black leader ...
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said.
