GREENVILLE, NC- A record making judgment has been made in a Pitt County Court. The woman who broke up a North Carolina couple's marriage has to pay $5.8 million. This is the second largest judgment ever made under the alienation of affection law. Judges are laying down the law, and we're seeing more of these multi-million dollar judgments being made.
When they moved to Greenville, she was a radiologist and he retired from the army. They took vows to love, honor, and obey, but when she was several months pregnant and her husband's former high school classmate came to visit-- his vows went out the window.
She came down and helped my client paint her nursery and in the process she helped herself to my client's husband, Cynthia Mills of Mills & Bryant.
She represented Lynn Arcara in the alienation of affection case she took to trial against Susan Pecoraro, a woman she once called her friend.

Well, let’s see now... Outlaw Woman... with the guns and jets on your profile. You are obviously very negative about men. I can imagine several reasons why but you make one most obvious, which is that your own experiences have shown you that (in you words) “men are weak sexually” men are really nothing more than “animals” and given to animal instincts. You also imply that a man is going to be unfaithful the minute an “attractive bimbo” (your words) tempts him.
I’ll repeat what I said a moment ago. I am glad I don’t know the men you know. I am glad I don’t think like you do. I have had two dear friends divorce because their husbands left them for other women. I see what everyone sees - Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton, and a host of other people but these are not the majority of men that I know.
And I don’t appreciate the little snotty comment about my world being secure. I do believe my world is secure. After 22 years of marriage and two years of courtship/engagement, I think I know my man.
P.S. As for attractive bimbo, more often than not I have noted that the men who often do cheat do so with far less attractive women than they are married to so that sortof blows the attractive bimbo hypothesis of yours.
She never remarried, eh? Even if she moves in with someone - which can be tough to prove - on a permanent basis, generally that can be ground for cessation of alimony.
Maybe you should sign her up on matchmaker.
LMAO !.....yep.
I believe 67% cheat.
“I have had two dear friends divorce because their husbands left them for other women.”
PP, I think you just made OW’s point.
Besides that, guns and jets are cool. F4 Phantoms for sure!!
What are you? An actuary? There is no way that that is even close. I’ll tell you why I believe this is wrong. I have seen some bogus stats about up to 60% of men but I liken it to the same crapola stats about the divorce rate being 50%. Here’s why? And I’ve heard some very good minds explain it too. They keep dumping in the same idiots. So, let’s take Mr. Tiger Woods here... he marries and cheats on his wife; he marries again and cheats on his next wife; he marries again and cheats again... etc. etc. etc. Or maybe he’s just a serial cheater. They will count this each time. Meanwhile, it’s just one idiot.
They do this with divorce. The same dummies are divorcing over and over. I have a cousin who has been married four times. Her last marriage was in July of 2009. She divorced #4 in March or April of 2010. She was already dating prospective #5 by June (not even a full year later). But she’ll show up in the stats as four divorces, as if four different people were divorced. Meanwhile, who do you think is marrying her? Yep, guys who also have multiple marriages. Except for the first one, they were all divorced.
Just had to bring it up.
LOL. Now there’s some practical advice.
You must be reading a Koran instead of burning one.
Pass out the Burkas, quick.
Do you think I only have two friends? I did not make her point. Maybe jets and guns are cool, but her views on men are not only uncool they are just flawed. My gut is she had a very bad (or several very bad) experiences with men in her own personal life - father, husband, etc. and so like some she just sees the whole world from her sad little vantage point. It’s like the two kids who go to the barn stall with poop. One just sees the poop; the other is looking for the pony.
LOL.
I just noted that DaveTex posted you and I replied to him and didn’t share, so here’s my comment to him:

And you are/were a cheating spouse? Yes/No? I mean since OW is right.
Me? No, I happen to have the sweetest most loving wife any man could ever hope for. She is exceptional.
I’m just saying men and women stray sometimes. It happens.
Dave, I agree that men and women can and do stray. Obviously, no one has been saying not, but this girl is saying all men are animals and sexually weak and that is just not true. There is a guy somewhere here on FR who hates women. I can’t recall his screen name. He is filled with vitriol against women. I am starting to think these two were married or something. It’s like the ying and yang. Of course, men and women are flawed. We are all sinners, but it really insults men.
As for me, I have a darling husband and I think he’d echo your sentiments as well. In fact I know it. It’s hard to believe but he will still wake up sometimes and say, “How’s my beautiful bride this morning?” LOL. Cracks me up. He’s a gem. Not perfect but a gem all the same. As for me, I’m not perfect either of course but I’d like to think he thinks I’m special.
P.S. You did not have to answer such a personal question about your fidelity, but I know a lot of great men - I mean really good guys and I am, frankly, a little sick of the man-bashing that goes on now; it’s rampant.
Sounds like you have a great husband, and he has a great wife. I still think OW was speaking in general terms, and not slamming all men.
Hey, we’re somewhat tough/rugged/thick skinned. It’ll all be alright. Yes?
First, I certainly don’t think the guy is any kind of innocent. Second, my point would work whether it was a tart interfering with the husband, or the milkman interfering with the wife.
Adultery is bad enough, and it is less likely to happen if there are enforced penalties against those who approach marriages and break them up.
It is also understood that there is a special onus on those who initiate the temptation. The tort is on the books, the perpetrator of the tort is found liable, and the only innocent party gets compensated by one of the guilty parties. It would probably do no good to fine the fellow who is guilty as well, since he is supposed to be supporting the household in the first place.
So that's what the kids are calling it these days.
There is no such thing as a homewrecking birch. The homewrecker was the unfaithful husband.
Not on the planet where I live. This whole “men are animals who can’t control themselves” thing is just giving them a credit card to behave badly. Not all men are like Bill Clinton.
Yes, that has surprised me as well — I’ve seen men running around with very average women and thought that their wives at home must be dogs — only to later find that their wives were gorgeous.
