GREENVILLE, NC- A record making judgment has been made in a Pitt County Court. The woman who broke up a North Carolina couple's marriage has to pay $5.8 million. This is the second largest judgment ever made under the alienation of affection law. Judges are laying down the law, and we're seeing more of these multi-million dollar judgments being made.

When they moved to Greenville, she was a radiologist and he retired from the army. They took vows to love, honor, and obey, but when she was several months pregnant and her husband's former high school classmate came to visit-- his vows went out the window.

“She came down and helped my client paint her nursery and in the process she helped herself to my client's husband,” Cynthia Mills of Mills & Bryant.

She represented Lynn Arcara in the alienation of affection case she took to trial against Susan Pecoraro, a woman she once called her friend.

Ah, the old alienation of affection tort. You don't see that everyday. I don't know if any other state in the Union has such tort law anymore.

As the story later points out, the alleged home-wrecking hoochie-mama lives in MD, so she'll probably never pay a dime unless of course she's stupid enough to move to North Carolina.

Maybe so but the home wrecking B*tch is forever imprisoned.

Yeah, but this will make marrying the ex-husband very sticky—he’ll be stuck out of state, too, which may be what the wife really wanted, anyway.

I believe that there are 9 states that still have the tort. My state of South Dakota is one.

And what was the man’s punishment? The old “Blame it on Eve” game is still alive and well I see.

It's like hockey, "Third Man In" is a more serious penalty than straight fighting.

Yes it does sweetheart but women have most of the power sexually. Men are weak and driven by animal instincts; as long as some tramp is out there flaunting it, men will go for it. It's inherent unless they are extremely grounded and as we see...most men are not.

"I believe that there are 9 states that still have the tort."

That many? Interesting. I wonder how often damages are awarded.

Sure he does, "What God hath joined, let no man put asunder."

OMG. This has to be the most hilarious thing I have heard anyone say (write) in a long, long time. You have just insulted a lot of decent and faithful men. Men are not animals. If you think so, then you need to find better company.

The Jezebel did not have sex with herself. The man was not forced to have sex. Was he raped? Was he blackmailed into sex? Unbelievable. Look, I heard a story about a woman who got a judgment against the gal who was having an affair with her husband AFTER the husband put a halt to it. The sleaze kept calling him and pursuing him and virtually stalking him. Now that scenario made sense to me. From what I gather, this was not the case here. I don’t know details of the case but I have never ever been able to figure out why the woman gets the blame. So, if a man pursues me while I am married and I cheat on my husband, is it the man’s fault or mine? Sheesh. People need to be held accountable for their actions. I have never heard of a case where an adulterer was forced into adultery. EVER.

Really? Let a man go out and let some attractive bimbo tempt him and watch what happens. Most men are weak sexually. I don’t know what you base your opinion on but apparently you haven’t observed society. Perhaps you believe your little world is secure? hmmmmm

NC has “permanent alimony” too. My husband has been divorced from his ex for 20 years and she gets 2/3 of his military retirement pay FOREVER. 1/3 is considered “division of retired pay” and the court ordered “permanent alimony” on top of that to the max allowable garnishment by law, 66% of his total retired pay.
