Voinovich declares he'll push Obama small-business package (RINO alert)
www.post-gazette.com ^ | September 10, 2010 | Lori Montgomery

Retiring Sen. George Voinovich said he planned to help push a package of small-business incentives through the Senate next week, a move that would give President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats a key victory on the economy in the final weeks before the November midterm elections.

In an interview, Mr. Voinovich, R-Ohio, said he could no longer support efforts by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to delay the measure in hopes of winning the right to offer additional GOP amendments. Most of the proposed amendments "didn't have anything to do with the bill" anyway, Mr. Voinovich said, and amounted merely to partisan "messaging."

"We don't have time for messaging. We don't have time anymore. This country is really hurting," Mr. Voinovich said.

If a single amendment to reduce paperwork for business owners is considered on the floor, Mr. Voinovich said he told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., that he would add his vote to that of 59 Democrats. That would give the majority party the 60 votes needed to overcome a possible GOP filibuster and move the package to final passage when Congress returns to Washington next week.

Way to go, George. At least don’t give up the quest to reverse the 1099’s for small businesses.

Tell all your liberal friends. 59Democrats plus George equals 60. They ‘progressives’ cannot claim ‘obstructionist’ anymore.

Hold on? Are we against the small business tax cuts too? Seriously? I thought that is what conservatives believe....small business and tax cuts. Well I know it is small government, but small businesses are the ones who hire people. I must be way off here or we are just not approving of anything. I am totally confused as to why this Senator is being called a RINO for this......Trust me I know he is a RINO overall but this topic????? Help me understand.....lol.

Retiring Sen. George Voinovich

The Republicans should threaten to strip his pension from him if he sides with the Democrats.

‘Mr. Voinovich said the president called him personally to ask for his support, but offered few details about his reauthorization plan, including how it would be funded.’

Isn’t this the Administration’s M.O. plenty of good sounding ideas with no details.

Wants to be named Obama’s ambassador to Serbia (V’s dad) or Slovenia (V’s mom), or perhaps something bigger like Ukraine or even Russia.

Or maybe he just genuinely agrees with this “higher taxes for all, except a few government favorites” tax policy.

This boys and girls is why it is foolish to run someone who is electable, or the best we could get.

How in the, Wide, wide world of sports, can anything ever change if we keep believing these closeted progressives will ever let anything change for the better.

"Voinovich declares he'll push Obama small-business package (RINO alert)"

Ahhh yes... Rinovich...

The "Gift" that keeps on giving here in Ohio...

Remember all those people telling us that a Rino is better than losing the seat?

Not so much...

There’s always a RINO around when the Democrats need them the most. Problem is, that’s when we need them the most too.

Enter Johnny McCain, the best friend they ever had.

Voinovitch is only doing what John would have if this wasn’t his election year.

His nomination makes me so proud to be a Republican.

Voinovitch, McCain, all the rest, you folks have screws us over for decades. I am so sick of traitors like you.

Yeah... Let me get this straight: I do an addition to my laundromat, spend $160,000.00 to do it, and I can write it all off in the year it occurred. No strings (that I know of, other than ‘recapture’, should I decide to sell it). And this is a “problem” worth pillorying over?

The chump Odumbo finally gets one right, but we can’t let him do it, because it would be a legislative victory? Hogwash.

I haven’t read the bill, but do you seriously think a wholesome small business bill could be drafted and submitted by the left?

There has to be about 10,000 hooks in this thing hidden away for some unsuspecting moment when our attention is focused on something else.

Voinovich is a sucker IMO. He’s the go-to guy this time. Another RINO will be the next time.

The sickening thing is, the guy is retiring. He has nothing to lose by selling out, screwing people as he exits.

I understand where you are coming from, but try to remember we’re talking about Obama here. Barack Hussein Obama! Keep that in mind and I think it will ease your mind with concern to other Conservative’s supposed confusion on this.

These aren’t tax cuts. These are so-called “incentives” to get a “tax break” if your small business buys equipment or performs research/development.

I own a small business and I don’t need either of these things. I need REAL business tax cuts so I can hire again.

This is nothing more than smoke and mirrors and the Senator signing on to this is an idiot.
