The Defense Department is attempting to buy the entire first printing - 10,000 copies - of a memoir by a controversial former Defense Intelligence Agency officer so that the book can be destroyed, according to military and other sources.
"Operation Dark Heart," which was scheduled to be published this month by St. Martin's Press, recounts the adventures and frustrations of an Army reservist, Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, who served in Afghanistan in 2003, a moment when the attention of Washington and the military had shifted to Iraq.

Exactly, when you start adding it all up,biggest poppy fields anywhere, lots minerals, lithium, it all adds up to more questions about why we are there.

It says a book intended for sale to the general public whatever that means.
Sad day indeed.Everything is upside down and inside out. We have a president and media berating our fellow countrymen as bigots and ‘islamophobes’ on the eve of 911. We are suppose to honor Muslims tomorrow instead of the victims of hate filled Islamists(according to Obama and the media). We are suppose to allow a victory mosque built on the sacred 911 ground in NY(while the very iman that is going to build it and works for our own State Department) threatens us with violence. We are suppose to stand down from free speech rights now when it comes to Islam. I can’t take much more tonight. My heart is so big and sore it’s about to burst! Nothing makes sense to me anymore(except the sanity I find on FR).
*sniff*
What really got me was this morning on F&F when they showed DNA markers by the hundred all over the building site for the NYC Mosque. Nothing drives how or what these terrorists are up to like that did.
They literally want to build a mosque(which I equate with a terrorist hideout) directly over the DNA of our fallen citizens to celebrate one of the few victories they have had over we infidels.
IF that's not sick I don't know what is.
But remember it's not built yet.
Thanks FRiend. I just got a good and needed belly laugh at Joe 6 pack’s new post. An instant FReeper classic! Go see:

Hey, he just said we couldn’t BURN it
Said nothing about digesting it
Wait a second! I thought in America we dont DESTROY books! Put Dark Side of the Force covers on 10,000 Korans and ship them to the Pentagon.
Got it ..
Solution...
Release the E-book version so that the number of copies is INFINITE
ROFL! That was my first thought too. Wouldn’t the publisher just keep pumping out the book as long its being gobbled up?
Should have kept reading, I see the answer to that now.
Good find! God bless you for wading through the Washington Compost.
Wow! Able Danger ascends. Haha! I hope it breaks out above the radar.

Important Message for Customers
On Friday, August 13, 2010, just as St. Martins Press was readying its initial shipment of Operation Dark Heart, the Department of Defense expressed concern that its publication could cause damage to U.S. national security. The publication of the initial edition was canceled. However, after consulting with the author, Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, St. Martin’s Press agreed to incorporate some of the governments changes, which includes redacting classified text, into a revised edition, which is releasing on September 24.
another ebay canceled...
“Message from merchant: I’d like to say I still own the 10 books worth $2,650, however as of this morning they are missing from my garage. I am scared to think how they went missing myself. Nevertheless, please accept my apology for using your time/energy etc.”
