On Sept. 11, 2001, radical Islamic terrorists committed the most deadly and destructive foreign attack on U.S. soil. Nine years later, the American people are being told that the country overreacted to the whole thing. President Obama last year declared that Sept. 11 is to be a "national day of service." Others in the administration seem to think that means it is a day upon which Americans should rise up to protect the Koran.
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley on Tuesday drew a moral equivalence between the 2001 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people with the Dove World Outreach Center's likely canceled plan to burn a few copies of the Koran originally scheduled for tomorrow. "We hope that between now and Saturday, there'll be a range of voices across America that make clear to this community that [burning Korans] is not the way for us to commemorate 9/11," he said. "In fact, it is consistent with the radicals and bigot - with those bigots who attacked us on 9/11."
Mr. Crowley also spoke of "the religious bigotry that that event [Sept. 11] represents." Referring to Islamic terrorists simply as "bigots" is a rather obtuse way of describing their motivation, akin to saying that the attack on Pearl Harbor was an expression of Japanese exceptionalism. On the other hand, at least someone in the administration is finally willing to admit that the al Qaeda terrorists were motivated by religion. They were not simply 19 "miscreants" victimized by political, economic and social forces, as Mr. Obama's senior counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan.

While he had no problem calling Koran burning un-American, he ducked the question, when pressed, to give his opinion on the propriety of burning an American flag.

No, conservatives have not learned well enough. With all the talk over the past year about using Alinsky tactics against the Marxists and those seeking to undermine American exceptionalism, Cons are flunking Protest 101.
Maybe we need to watch old videotape of some of the protests that occurred during the 60s- burning draft cards, bras, and flags to MAKE A POINT.
JUST DO IT!
Yes we have. My head is spinning. I think I will burn my TV!? Oh wait it is football season maybe after!
You can't plan to burn a Quran without getting a personal admonishment from Obama.
But instead, of backing down completely -- burn a flag and a Bible instead.
And make a statement: I can burn the symbols of Christianity and of the United States, and no one in the US government cares.
But, if I plan to do something that might be offensive to our enemies, I get chastised by people who are required by the Constitution to not interfere.
The hypocrisy is staggering.
...does anyone really expect any kind of victory with this bunch leading us?
Take-home lesson: Apparently, to be heard and influence in our republic, one has to be willing and ready to back up one's demands with violence.
to be heard and to have influence ...
This Saturday will be the last cookout on 9/11 at Walter Reed. As a positive move, we now have a thread for a National Cookout day on Saturday. A day of food service.
I need some suggestions please. Please chime in.

We Christian don’t get no respect. Remember when someone put a crucifix in a jar of urine, photgraphed it and called it art? Then they put it in a museum and made the taxpayers pay for it. No respect.
Now, if we acted like the muslims you know that never would have happened. To the leftist respect means only fear of those who they would respond with violence. Maybe that is why they have such respect for communists like Castro.
I’ve learned who likes Quranic BBQ and who claims membership in the bucket brigade.
The muslims get averything they want, a mosque at ground zero, and no koran burnings
evil has triumphed once agains thanks to liberals and rino quislings everywhere.

LOL
Do you have a link for the flag burning?
You just know that out of 6 billion people on the planet, and the intensive news coverage, that there will be some Korans burned on Saturday. This pastor lit the fuse and it’s going to happen, somewhere, guaranteed.
The new BUZZ words: National Security, if we do not show tolerance our National Security and the lives of our service men and women are at stake. National Security.
Hillary has now slipped in--our dire economic straits could be an issue of National Security.
Meanwhile Rahm Emanuel could slip out (someone had to go) with some grace, an added sacrifice during "a crisis" and become Chicago's new mayor? Rahm always had a dream to be the Mayor of Chicago, he says.
Obama blames Bush and the Right, the Party of No. and punishes those that make over $200k a year.
The Castros alert the press..we made a mistake with decades of socialism. We welcome business to Cuba--come build your golf courses, we give you land (99 years) for your grand hotels, smoke our cigars, gays welcome--all be happy...We love China!
What else is happening as the media ignores and we aren't looking?
Exactly. The jerks sitting around singing kumbaya were the yippies and activists of the 60s.
Civil disobedience IS part of the fabric of America.
Burning a symbol is protected speech.
If we do it and it scares the crap out of them, GOOD!
I’ve seen lots of “lock ‘n’ load” posts here, and “keep your powder dry” messages, but I am seeing too many diehards getting cold feet when it comes to actually getting in their faces.
I was at the very first Ground Zero anti-mosque protest, and the size of the crowd was somewhat disappointing at that time. I am glad this movement has built the momentum that we see now. Don’t lose that advantage.
It was while he was in Pakistan, to the best of my knowledge.
I was asking for a believable source though, you have posted that on multiple threads and I don’t believe it.
