Obama just want Rahm Emanuel out of his administration. They probably "gently urged" Daley to not run again to give Rahm "other opportunities".

Doesn’t there have to be an election first?

Hold off announcing until after the November midterms? The primary election for Chicago mayor is in early Feb. 2011 That’s cutting it pretty close, isn’t it? I wonder when the filing deadline is.

But Obama says he expects Rahm Emanuel to hold off on deciding whether to enter the race until after the midterm elections.

The problem is that Rahm can't wait that long if he wants to run---he has to collect 12,000 signatures and get all of his paperwork in right around that same time.

Rahm figures he only has 2 years left in D.C. as opposed to, well, forever in Chicago. Also he can return the favor by giving Bammers an appointment in 2012.

The filing deadline in Chicago is November 22nd. Candidates have to collect signatures, among other formalities, to get on the ballot. So if he put off a decision until after the Nov. 2nd mid-terms, that’s mighty fine timing needed by Rahm and his boys to get the ball rolling.

The election is February 22nd. It’s a non-partisan election for mayor. If no candidate gets 50% + 1 of the vote, then a runoff will happen, I believe it’s in early April.

Rahm to 0bama: “SHUT UP! SHUT UP! If anyone can screw up a democrat mayoral election in Chicago, it’s your dumb ass. Don’t help me, please!”

Can't you fellows read?

The Globe headline actually read

Rahm says, "Obama would make a terrific mayor of Chicago."

Rahm will be going in as "Relief President," to complete the final innings of the Obama term. In as new WH Chief of Staff will be prominent author, Bill Ayers. Hillary will be replaced as SoS with a utility leftie yet to be named.

That move will make her a Free Agent for the 2012 Presidential Race.

“Obama just want Rahm Emanuel out of his administration.”

I’m guessing Rahm wants out more than the administration wants him out. His counsel to compromise on health reform was ignored and now the chickens are coming home to roost. His departure is a huge vote of no confidence by one of the savviest political operatives in the administration.

So the administration will play it up as his seeking a lifelong dream, but everyone knows that even if Daley had decided to run again, Emanuel would have left after the midterms anyway. The ship’s going down and he doesn’t particularly care to help man the lifeboats especially given that it hit an iceberg he told them last January to avoid.

Actually, I think Obama would make a better mayor of Chicago - they deserve him there.

Why doesn’t HE resign and run to replace Daley :)??
