>> So today is an abyss day then? <<

Not yet. One swallow, unfortunately, doesn't make a Spring.

The "original" Into-the-Abyss Index uses a ten-day moving average. That average is now at one per cent. It has never fallen below this level.

When the ten-day average eventually and inevitably moves into negative territory, the probability will be very high that if Barry Søetero indeed has a future political career of any sort, it will be nothing more than something like the post of a Chicago alderman, serving under the Glorious Reign-to-Come of Oh-Rahm Oh-Rahm Emmanuel.

Apologies to G. F. Handel!

“Look here... I’m gonna run for mayor in Chicago. Don’t campaign for me, don’t fundraise for me, and... as a matter of fact, don’t come anywhere near me anymore, got it?

Of course, today, Obama says Rahm will make a fine mayor for Chicago. These clowns might be able to take over the USA, but I’m not sure they have what it takes to take over Chicago.

He is under water at this point.

This is about where Lyndon Johnson was in 1968

I know him because I’m a southern Ohioan, but Obama doesn’t really have a clue. He’s just lashing out, and the electorate seems to have had their fill of Obama.

47% strongly disapprove of Obama. What’s it mean when more than half the nation STRONGLY disapproves?

At a minimum, it should mean that Dem Ldrs would tell Obama to hide and shut up. It should mean that Dem candidates should run screaming in the other direction if he gets anywhere near them.

Here in Ohio, Strickland and Obama are responsible for losing hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Just 5 days ago, it was -23. Then surprisingly, it bounced back to -18, then today it is -24 ?

Simple, the poll has a margin of error of +- 3%. So when the value is 23 the actual value is between -20 and -26. The next day at -18 the actual value is between -15 and -21. Today at -24 the value is between -21 and -27. If the real value could have been at -21 the whole time and you could get the results shown simply due to the margin of error.

What the “bouncing” as you put it does is establish the upper and lower parameters of the MOE. This is statistical noise. When you look at the chart, rather than seeing a jagged line, you should see it as a thick line, where 0bama could be anywhere within at any given time. It is just like weighing yourself. Which is your ‘true’ weight? How much you weigh after a sandwich, or a poop? When you wake up, or when you go to bed? Or is there no absolute figure, just a range established between the extremes?

Well, COOL!!

Throw a couple more -6's in there and he'll REALLY be in the abyss, not just bobbing in and out of it. :)

And yet Obama keeps coming to Ohio, and Strickland says he wants him to. It would be funny if the result of their policies weren't killing Ohio.

I agree that Dem leaders should tell their boy-king that he's poison, but the boy-king has too much of an ego to comply with their wishes.

These numbers will continue to drop until the same percentage of people who voted for him strongly disapprove of him.

The future is bright, xzins, if we can hold onto our beloved Republic until these vile Marxist usurpers are out of power.

Obama must see this as a continuation of the 2008 campaign because he’s very much in campaign mode.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. If he stays completely out of the melee, the left will blame him for giving up without a fight. But unlike 2008, this time he will be swimming against the current.

Keep in mind that Ras’s 3-day moving average includes polling done Monday, when a lot of people may still have been away. If tomorrow’s numbers are similar to today’s, then we can start having confidence that he’s moving into a new range.

This is getting very close to 50%. When more than half the people Strongly Disapprove you are looking at an electoral blow out.

How many of the disapprovers are militant Leftists who are upset over what Obama is doing to Democrat prospects? Just because somebody doesn't approve of Obama does not mean they will vote Republican.

But those won't show up in the strongly disapprove. Those people will be in the weakly approve or at worst weakly disapprove. If you agree with a politicians position, but don't think he is pushing hard enough, you aren't in the I hate him with a burning passion category.

I think the rats are gearing up their party here in Austin. Yesterday, while out around town, I saw 2 obamanation stickers which looked new (not the obamanation/biden) but the round new world circle red/white/blue that obamanation had drawn.... and the drivers looked like white young women... the type that would be active in the party here, IMO. Usually on a normal day, I don’t see any stickers except obamantion/biden 2008 on Hispanic’s/Negroes vehicles.

This is sort of connected to this thread:

Yesterday began the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Many have acknowledged this holiday, and wished a happy holiday to Jewish people everywhere. But has there been a mention of this from Obama? After two dinners for the Muslims celebrating Ramadan (one at the beginning hosted by Obama, one at the end of fasting, hosted by Hillary), you think the resident in the White House could at least offer one good wish to the Jewish population who helped to elect him. If he did so, there must not have been much publicity.

You are correct in your analysis. Moderates can draw from all over the electoral spectrum - except the Left. They will never accept anyone that doesn’t hold to hardcore Leftist principles.

Gibbs spoke the truth for once when he said “[The Left] will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon. That’s not reality.”*

Obama placed himself in a difficult position. He flashed his toothy smile and looked like a moderate, even though those who followed the news knew what he really was. The Left knew, and that’s why they supported him. They expected him to move Left.

Obama has done just that, causing everyone from the center to the right to abandon him. However, he could never move as left as the Left wants under our Constitutional system of government. He sees the handwriting on the wall concerning November and beyond, and has decided to play the role of moderate once again.

This time, the jig is up. He doesn’t have an ignorant electorate anymore - they know the truth. By abandoning the Left, that SA number might go down a little.

Here’s what I think. Obama is a nutcase, and is getting increasingly bizarre in his behavior. When his acting like a moderate does not bring up his numbers, he will become furious and make a hard Left because his ego won’t let him apologize and try to make real amends with those he’s offended.

This doesn’t sound rational during an election year, but he’s not a rational human being - he deals with feelings rather than logic.

The ravenous beast that is the Left must be stopped.
