Starting to say 'no'
NY Post ^ | September 9, 2010 | ANDREW C. McCARTHY

A Tectonic shift is in mo tion: How fitting that its focal point is Ground Zero, the inevitable fault line between Islam and the West.

Only the blink of an eye ago, uttering the unpleasant truth that in terms of doctrine there is no such thing as "moderate Islam" resulted in one's banishment from what our opinion elites like to call the "mainstream," by which they mean the narrow-minded, viciously defended circle of their own pieties and fictions.

You could say it, but your skin had better have an extra coat or two of thick: You were in for a fusillade of rage, the likes of which our candor-phobic elites would never dream of unleashing at our Islamist enemies -- no matter how clearly those enemies announced their intention to destroy us.

The fusillade still comes, but now its blows only glance. The elites and their mainstream have been exposed as frauds: Being on the wrong side of enough 70-30 issues will do that to you.

It should never have gotten this far. Sponsors of the Ground Zero mosque neither own the property in question nor possess the means to build and operate the palatial Islamic center they envision. The more light that shines on their record of murky real-estate dealings and the dubious circumstances of their limited stake in the Ground Zero property, the more questions arise.

The murk of the RE dealings have yet to come out in full.

"(The GroundZero Mosque) cleared its final hurdle ….
developers plan to build the $100 million center which will include a mosque.
Since its incipient stages in July 2009, when a Muslim-run real-estate development
company purchased the damaged, vacant building and land where the new center
will be built, the project has sparked controversy and debate.
.... the tattered building that was bought by the Muslim real estate company had
been owned by a subsidiary of Bain Capital, a company Romney founded in 1984.

So it’s OK if his company can profit off the sale of the land ."

The American majority is against this Mosque and what is the response of the proponent? He is now threatening violence from Muslim's.
Where are the moderate Muslim's? Why are we bigots because we don't support a victory lap?
One answer may because the FBI, Defense Department and the State Department have anointed a Muslim propaganda group that defends Muslim atrocities as the main spokes group for Muslims. Even Fox calls on this group, CAIR, as the main spokes group for Muslims.

The Pope speaks for the Catholic Church and Cain speaks for Muslims.

There have been some brave Muslims who have stood up but they aren't training the FBI, supported by the Defense Department or writing our textbooks, CAIR is.

If the Muslim religion is indeed peaceful, why have our leaders failed to find the peaceful leadership of this faith?

Ground Zero, once again the site of epic Islamist overreach, may be remembered as the place where we started to say "no."

I hope so. Rauf must see it as important, too, because now he is threatening worldwide Islamic violence ("worse than the violence over the cartoons") if the project, once again named Cordoba House, is moved.

My big concern is that stunts like that of the idiotic pastor in Gainesville will delegitimize our opposition, however, and may even result in restrictions (such as hate speech laws) on our ability to speak out. I think we have to keep making the point that Islam is not "just" a religion but that it is a rival political system that wants to take us over, and this is something we have every right to reject and to fight back against.

We real Americans,
(YES, CONSERVATIVE AMERICANS ARE THE ONLY REAL AMERICANS)

have been stepping back as the left encroaches, in the name of civility.

We can’t step back anymore, for any reason - F’ Civility.

Yes, people are fed up. and it’s happening, although to a much lesser extent, in Europe too. At least I see a few signs that it is.
