I believe that the Obama administration should go to the Supreme Court or maybe tactically to the most sensible and civilized appellate court and seek an injunction against this atrocity that 1. will encourage Muslim madmen to respond in kind and 2. will also encourage primitive Christians to extend and expand the auto da fé.

This whole thing has really made me think about what the “right” thing to do is here.
Islam is a collective bully with the target being free nations, whether it be the US, UK, Europe, Australia, etc. Once people stand up en masse to bullies, oftentimes the bullies get the worst beatdown ever.
The Koran itself declares war against free nations and free people (as a rule, before some now existing nations existed), and Al-Qaeda and other groups have verbally done so in more recent history.
Radical Islam is already at war with us, already killing innocent people all over the globe, already getting their tentacles and footholds in corrupting and overthrowing free nations.
So, will one person burning Korans really “cause” problems that didn’t already exist? Would millions of people burning Korans send a “we won’t take this sh*t” message to people already hell-bent on destroying all that is free and good? Or do we await further instructions on how to appease the unappeasable?
Did the New Republic and the left condemn the burning and mutilation of Blackwater contractors in Fallujah by Muslims ?
Which was cheered by the locals ?

I’ve been trying to figure out why you have such a problem with her.
I don’t think that she’s going to run for POTUS in 2012. Maybe 2016 but more likely 2020. She is enjoying being a “kingmaker” and building a power base in the congress. Seems like sensible approach to me.
In 2020 she will be 56, and have a much more mature approach, solid allies in congress , which she would need if she wanted to have any chance of affecting legislation.
She could be a major ditz, and time will bear out the veracity of that assertion. Right now, it’s best to settle back and let things shake out.
We’ll see who jumps in for 2012 after the election.

I think anyone out of the legislative branch is toast, so a former governor is likely. But we’re looking at another 1996 in 2012 and Zero will win again in the face of an opposition controlled legislature.
This is something hard to defend, unfortunately, and I think it was a lousy PR stunt, if that was really what the “pastor” was trying for.
While I personally think that there has never been a book that more deserved burning than the Koran, this “pastor” is a nitwit, probably in the employ of or sympathetic to the left, who is doing his best to provoke an outraged response...not by the Muslims, because they’re already outraged 24/7 about nothing...but by Obama, Holder and the entire lefty-Islamist government structure.
I used to live in Gainesville, a university town, and the Muslims have a big “dawa center” (dawa means proselytism or conversion) on the main highway out of town. Maybe this pastor would have been better off trying to convert some of the Muslims or even stopping the university from celebrating Islamic holidays with banners in the street as it does now.
But this was a stupid stunt and will bring us nothing but harm, not from ethnic Muslims but from Obama and the Islamic oriented US left.
