LAKE JACKSON, Texas - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Congressman Ron Paul today issued the following statement about a Florida pastor's plan to ban copies of the Quran on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
"A professed Christian pastor in Gainesville, Florida, Terry Jones, plans to burn copies of the Quran on 9/11. He indicts all Islam for 9/11 and argues that it is a hate-driven religion. He's convinced he's on God's side even though he is getting little support from other Christians, who believe that Jesus is the Prince of Peace.....
...our policies of torture, targeted assassination, invasion of Muslim countries and unintended infliction of civilian casualties in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan are also provocative. Pictures of victims of torture as well as innocent people killed by drones and stray bombs are every bit as bad as burning the Quran.

As usual, when it comes to Constitutional issues, he is laughably wrong. The right to life is guaranteed to all persons on a federal level in the XIVth Amendment.
His position transforms a fundamental, God-given right into a privilege that can be granted or taken away whenever a state legislature feels like it.
Is Larouche drinking that silver solution or something?
What’s up with them teefies?
El Ron Hoover was a contender LoL
Nothing surprises me but yes I recall that too now. He’s a crank.
I’ve been tempted to recreate a SeaOrg poster with Paul and his merry band of Tards.
Youre just gonna piss off the true believers. ;)
Curiously I would like to see the results of the Gold audit at Fort Knox that RP has called for
Idiot. These collectivists have been killing people, innocent people, for about 1400 years. RESIGN. POS.

No, Pat Buchanan sings the same song.
... he unfortunately fails to see the whole picture and understand that our policies of torture, targeted assassination, invasion of Muslim countries and unintended infliction of civilian casualties in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan are also provocative. Pictures of victims of torture as well as innocent people killed by drones and stray bombs are every bit as bad as burning the Quran.
I would behead a few of the worst and throw that in for them to mull over, too. Those people understand only one thing - force and power. (Or is that two things?) If we would take the gloves off and let them know we are serious and that we intend to win this no matter what it takes, unintended consequences and all, I think they would get the message real quick. However, just like Vietnam, they know they have strong allies in our government and in our media and if they will just scream loud enough we will quit. Bad on us!
We must refuse to allow all this political correctness to stop us and do what's right for ourselves regardless. The liberals who impose all this softness on us are our enemy. They seek our defeat just as they did in Vietnam.
“Lots of people here like a lot of stuff Ron Paul says. He should say more of that and less of the stuff people here hate.”
Well, well.... “Milk before the meat”, eh?
That could describe things said by a lot of extremist demagogues. I won’t name names, you’ll understand, won’t you?
So... you Ron Paul sign-stickers (in 2008 they sprang up everywhere around here like mushrooms after a rainstorm) want him to say only those things that might get him elected. Fool the electorate, maybe?
Wasn’t that the same strategy as... Obama’s?
You Paulistas are the same zombie like followers then as you are now.
Paul has abandoned his strict constitutionalist views.
Have you been playing attention?
It’s Roe v Wade that has been keeping states from banning abortions for 37 years.
It’s Roe v Wade that struck down existing state laws.
Ron Paul is against Roe v Wade.
That makes him pro-life.
All the talk about abortion over the last 37 years has centered around Roe v Wade. Would a judge vote for Roe v Wade?
That’s what this is all about.
What Ron Paul has is a pro-life position that’s different from yours.
Don’t lie and say he isn’t pro-life, just because you have your own personal view of what pro-life means.
90% of the American Public agrees on what Pro-Life means and what Pro-choice means.
Pro-life means anti Roe v Wade.
Pro-choice means pro Roe v Wade.
Do you have a better pro-life position? Maybe.
Rand’s position is similar to yours.
But they’re both Pro-Life positions.
You have enough truthful things to say about Ron Paul that
will make people here dislike Ron Paul that you don’t have to lie about his record. The truth is that he’s pro-life, but not the kind you like.
If you wanted to honestly discuss Ron Paul’s abortion postition - and I’m not saying your abortion position is bad or wrong - you could say that Ron Paul’s pro-life position is bad or his pro-life postition doesn’t go far enough. You could say his position on abortion is bad, wrong or doesn’t go far enough. But everyone (90%) understands that Ron Paul has a pro-life postition, but maybe not the best one.
Libertarians: “good on paper, shit on grass.”
Only Fraud Paul could find a way to blame our military for this..I find it more than just a little hypocritical for a General out searching for and attacking Muslims to suggest that a lowly pastor burning a Quran is worse in the enemies eyes than what he is doing everyday.
If you listen to Pitreaus(?), the Muslim In Chief and that pinhead Hannity You'd think if the Pastor didn't burn the Quran it would otherwise just be a day at the beach for our troops...
No. There’s no fooling anybody. There are likely a lot of Republicans out there with a #1 priority of Limited Constitutional Government. And Ron Paul does have the best track record of voting for Limited Constitutional Government.
No one even comes close.
If Ron Paul only talked about Limited Contitutional Government, a lot of people would really like him.
But he doesn’t. Most Freepers do not like his foreign policy one bit. And he won’t stop talking about it. We got it, Ron, you’re not happy with the wars and the such.
So the more he talks about it, the more people here think he’s all about that stuff. And he’s really not, or he really wasn’t back in 2007 and, especially, before that.
Everybody already knows he’s against the war, so it wouldn’t be tricking people to shut up and focus on cutting government.
About the Ron Paul sign stickers: no, they want him to talk about the war. That’s why Ron Paul is talking about the war. Many of his supporters, the ones who didn’t know who he was when he announced, got all excited about his antiwar, and are still there. Many of the Republicans who’ve known RP for a while and supported him aren’t really focused on him right now. They aren’t the ones breathlessly awaiting whether or not he’ll run in 2012, they’re the ones interested in backing the conservatives in 2010, people like Christine.
I trust our boots on the ground General who has proven time and time again to be right over this pastor who has marched with and supports the Westboro Baptist assholes who celebrate when our soldiers are killed.

Petraeus is the one who has to work with training local police and military, using local assets and has people’s lives in his hands. It may not be a ra, ra, cheerleading position, but he is a lot more trustworthy in his motivation than Jones.
So what if Ron Paul is not for burning any book. Are we in Nazi Germany??? And beside, don’t you remember the massive outrage when they draw the Mohammad cartoons ? Now imagine their reaction if we burn their holy book. Pissing off 25 % of the world population doesn’t seem constructive to me. And
Petraeus, said this act would put the troops in greater danger. Just for that, the pastor shouldn’t do it period.
