SEPTEMBER 8--The Florida pastor who is planning to burn a pile of Korans this weekend runs a church that has established a variety of cult-like rules for individuals studying to become ministers, according to the groups rulebook.
The Dove World Outreach Center (DWOC), headed by Islam-hating Rev. Terry Jones, has been widely denounced for its September 11 bonfire plans. The tiny Gainesville church is headed by Jones and his wife Sylvia, a co-pastor.
The DWOCs Academy Rulebook, a copy of which youll find here, was created in November 2007 by Sylvia Jones. The document, which details the standards to which a prospective DWOC minister must adhere, addresses topics such as behavior, study, and communication. It is also filled with the kind of creepy directions that are often associated with cults.
For instance, students are directed to cut off most contact with family members. Family occasions like wedding, funerals or Birthdays are no exception to this rule, the rulebook notes. No phone calls. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances but only after receiving permission.
The Joneses also barred Singles from having romantic relationships to the opposite sex

There is a better way to go about this whole thing. The right to burn the koran (I refuse to make it a proper noun via capitalization) is not in question. But I do question this preacher’s motives.
Allow me to expand on the better way; Burn the koran or not and tell people that it is a cult of oppression. Expand on it with handouts regarding honor killings and excerpts from that book that support what you say. It is not a faith. Faith puts faith in it’s followers, that they will come to God. Islam offers only punishments.
Now back to the minister. I saw Westboro Baptist folks in pic here on FR with “God hates Fags” signs. I also saw one two weeks ago in Key West which is gay central. I heard people on the street saying thing like “I would like to pour gas on that guy and burn him”. I cannot help but think the sign holder was hoping for violence. He certainly was not serving God. God hates the sin and loves the sinner. I saw nothing of that love that God has for all of us in what was going on...just an agenda.
He has proven nothing. Anyone with a grain of sense KNOWS what happens when you provoke Muslims like this. Hell, they rioted and murdered Christians on the mere rumor that a Koran MIGHT have been abused at Gitmo.
Update:
Victory Mosque is now named The Cordoba Mosque!
ooohh best not do anything which will piss off muslims hey.
Yea we’ll let them still keep killing us and we’ll keep being silent.
what utter crap, I came from a country and have seen in other countries where I have served where muslims have taken over in parts so I know muslims very well and if you think that appeasing them will make them like us then you are dreaming.
All they know is strength and appeasing them and saying well we should not provoke them is helping them and showing weakness
Who’s going to die for this nut’s publicity stunt? That’s the real issue.
My concern too. Remember there is a Tea Party Rally in DC on Sept 12th.
Not a single soul unless evil Islam cannot control themselves. Killing can be averted if the killing religion of Mohammed attempts to go in warp speed from the year 800 to present and pretend to be civilized.
(Looks like the patriarch of the Beverly Hillbillies.)
Another blowhard. I’ll make the same bet I make with all blowhards like you.
Ill bet you $100 that YOU wont call your local television station and announce your own little public Koran burning ceremony and then pull it off. You wont because you know of the death threats that will follow, will you?
Yea, I thought so.
They are already dying without any stunts.
Burning ANY book is a mistake. Everyone should read the koran to learn for themselves what evil dwells therein.
Christians who would NOT have been bothered will die in the riots of illiterate goat herders. Is that okay with you?
Nice you are willing to sacrifice the lives of people you don’t know so that a point can be made.

Would you join him if it was an annual event that had 30 million participants nationwide?

You make it sound like Islam is something that needs to be confronted, not cowered away from.
I don’t know. I would have to think and pray about it.
