California Regulates Tire Pressure (no joke)
California.gov ^ | 09/06/2010

Posted on 09/08/2010 5:22:25 AM PDT by EBH

Link is to the pdf final regulation.

Take your vehicle in for repair, ...

they are required to complete the tire air inspection.

Sure you can decline, but have to either provide proof it was done in the last 30 days or promise to have it done in a week.

“Can they ‘check’ my cars tire pressure any way other than actual, hands on?”

Maine-iac7! Guess you haven’t heard the news! Obama’s latest stimulus plan! He’s creating a new government agency, The Department of Hot Air, 50,000 union employees receiving top pay and benefits, reason being, these are highly skilled positions as ability to read a tire guage is a requirement. Anyway, you will see one of these DHA agents in your drive way soon checking the tire pressure on your 91 Buick. Oh, btw, these will be armed agents. So, don’t mess with them or they’ll shoot out your tires...

Not any time soon. They’ve been voting for it for decades.

Claim you are an illegal alien and any attempt to record or alter the state of your tires is profiling.

We're all illegal aliens now anyway, as the leadership of the country our forefathers fought and died for has been usurped by a foreign interloper and his domestic band of traitors.

Coming soon will be getting a ticket if your tires are low.

It’s about the money, dude.
The money.

That was the first draft. Now they only measure the amount of CO2 when you exhale.

I think the final draft amends this to only allow you a certain number of breaths in your lifetime. Once you've reached that number, you have to quit breathing.

And of course you're going to be taxed on breathing. The state needs the money.

I drive a 1991 Buick.

It,potentially, will keep running for as long as I'll need a car - (I'm officially an antique, myself, this year.)

Nope.

I drive a 96 Lincoln and won't part with it. Even have an electric cart for my handicapped wife in the trunk. Has everything I need in an automobile.

You and I have cars that require hands-on pressure checks. My daughter bought a new Honda recently. It has automatic tire pressure checks. Big deal. I prefer to do my own gauging, thanks.

And I have reached antique status also. :)

I have OnStar on my truck and get a diagnostics report by email once per month which includes psi on all four tires. So, the technology is available to monitor tire pressure as well as other attributes such as emissions. It's all about the money and controlling other peoples lives.

I am driving an old car with 318k miles on it. I am NOT going to buy a new car with all that crap on it. This tire pressure thing is nothing more than a fund raiser for the out-of-control spending perpetrated on us by the CA legislature.

How about putting 110 lbs in before you take it to the government inspection station so it blows up in their faces. Another thing you can do is stick a BB in the valve stem.

guess we ‘antiques’ are a thorn in the side of the socialists = we had a real schooling and we remember how things are supposed to be.

they plan on whittling us down fast with their health care bill...

trouble will be old fogies like me: I am in much better health than I”m ‘supposed’ to be - or would be, if I took all the prescripts they give me. I only take one - it's cheap and benign.

I take the natural supplements and vitamins - etc. - and live surrounded by forest - good air, sunshine, etc. I might freeze to death though, if I can't dig the wood out when the ice and snow get too high. ‘bama’s getting ready to flip the switch on the “Smart Grid’ so’s he can determine how much oil we use. “You can't HAVE your thermostat on 72!”

I remember when he said that - one of the BIG clues, before election, of his socialism. (I haven't run my heat at 72 for years. But it ain't up to him to decide.)

I still have the belief that we will beat this latest horde back again - for a few decades, at least. The silent majority is silent no more.

On my car the selector buttons are on the left end of the dash. I scrool to tire pressures and the readout shows front and read. On your Ford, who knows? :-)

I am not a proponent of what the good state of California is up to. I was merely pointing out that the technology is in place for them to monitor tire psi already. In fact, not sure on this, I believe all new cars now have this feature. So, as new autos come on line and old autos are scrapped, the pool will continue to get bigger. Hang in there with your 318k car - I’m impressed - what’s your secret to long car life?

Not on my new Nissan Rogue, strip down model. The fanciest feature I have is AC. I dumped the Saturn Aura with all the OnStar bells and whistles.

It was a joking rhetorical question. Those of us driving ancient cars don’t have all the latest bells & whistles.

Sorry, sometimes I can really cut and slash, sometimes my brain is as dense as U-238, or worse.
May this weekend provide what you need.
Oh yeah, I just bought a 1988 Ford Ranger. I am going to try to get rid of all electronic ignition systems on it.

It really is kinda frightening isn’t it.

Everything we do is monitored in some shape or form.

I wish I could head for the deepest forests...
