An Iraqi soldier opened fire on American troops and killed two on Tuesday, U.S. and Iraqi officials said.
*snip*
The Americans were among a group of U.S. soldiers meeting with Iraqi security forces at an Iraqi army compound near the city of Tuz Khormato, about 130 miles (210 kilometers) north of Baghdad. The assailant was shot and killed.

I hate those burnoosed bastards - every mother’s son of them.
“the Islamic State of Iraq took responsibility “
One more demonstration of Islam as a peaceful religion.
The fewer American troops over there, the more likely this will occur. We shouldn’t have withdrawn until we were ready to pull them ALL out at the same time.
I saw this in Vietnam.
There were many ARVN soldiers that were good fighters, but many saw that the U.S. was abandoning them and in self-preservation decided to distance themselves from the few thousand American troops remaining in country near the end.
This was a joke, but with some truth to it:
“Wanna buy an ARVN rifle? Never been fired and only dropped once.”
It was apparently over a soccer game .. DAMN!

Iraqi defence ministry spokesman Major General Mohammed al-Askari said that Iraqi and American troops had been playing a sports match when a quarrel erupted between one local and one US soldier.
“The Iraqi soldier opened fire on them,” he said, naming the gunman as Soran Rahman Saleh Wali.
You make a very valid comparison. We are seeing the same thing in Afghanistan with the June 2011 deadline. This time the enemy will have rockets to shoot down copters at the embassy.
Yes, the enemy knows that we are weak now, thanks to our cowardly
fake president who doesn’t care whether our troops live or die!
This is tragic and could have been prevented with more security!
He might not have been a “real” Iraqi soldier, but an infiltrator.
Who knows......
How long until they blame this on burning Korans?
I hope that Iraqi soldier is dead now!
Exactly .. Lord, help our troops from
known and unknown enemies.
An Iraqi soldier? or someone DRESSED as an Iraqi soldier?
The Iraqi soldiers I was with were loyal Unfortunately there is always a fly in the ointment because of security lapses. Combat is NOT over in spite of what the current White House occupant would you have you believe. Grrrr!!!
Thank you. I’ll take that from someone who knows what he’s talking about.
I since heard it was a fight over some sports game.
Good post. I agree with every word.

That viewpoint changed on 9/11/01.
I can guarantee that it is in the making as I type this reply.
My son recently deployed to Iraq. I told him that he could be cordial, polite, and friendly with the Iraqi soldiers, but never trust them.
I gave my son the same advice: Always have someone watching your back, be polite and be ready to kill them without hesitating for even a second.
Ironically, when he came home the second time, he sponsored his interpreter for immigration. The “terp came to the US, and joined the Army as soon as he was able. He told my son he loves America and wants to repay us for saving him. Pretty cool.
