In an honor that could be misinterpreted as a slap in the face, a Los Angeles school district has named a new academy after Al Gore -- the only problem is the school was built on toxic soil.

The Los Angeles Times reports that crews worked up to the Labor Day weekend to try to clean up the Carson-Gore Academy of Environmental Sciences in the run-up to its Sept. 13 opening.

The $75.5 million facility was named after Gore, who has made bringing awareness to climate change a personal cause since leaving office, and environmental author Rachel Carson. The former vice president was never informed the school would bear his name.

It figures...the Al Bore family estate is built on the biggest toxic superfund site in TN.

Out back is a huge toxic lake from the zinc mine (from which he gets a big annual royalty check)...the waste tailings leak into the lake.

That's the lake where his "daddy taught me to fish and swim" as a child...I guess some o that toxic sludge addled his brain.

CARTHAGE, Tenn. -- On his most recent tax return, as he has the past 25 years, Vice President Al Gore lists a $20,000 mining royalty for the extraction of zinc from beneath his farm here in the bucolic hills of the Cumberland River Valley. In total, Mr. Gore has earned $500,000 from zinc royalties. His late father, the senator, introduced him not only to the double-bladed ax but also to Armand Hammer, chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corp., which sold the zinc-rich land to the Gore family in 1973.

According to my information, the Carson-Gore school is located at 3200 West Washington Boulevard.

If true, then it is located about 2500 feet from Sosaeng (1818 South Western Avenue).

Which is a massage school.

I thought only people here in her home town of Pittsburgh were stupid enough to name things after Rachel Carson.

Personally I’m pushing for a Rachel Carson Bedbug Festival to be held each summer....

at least they will have a viable justification for all the retards they will churn out.

chemically induced brain damage is better than what the teachers in this institution will do to their victims.

no one in such a realm could recognize brain damage anyhow; it is indigenous.

“Appropriate.”

That’s what I thought. His house and transportation pollute more than any ten of us. He’s a hypocrite, which makes him a Liberal Democrat automatically.

Isn’t Rachel Carson the person that wrote a book that gave a bad rap to DDT the banning of which lead to the deaths of millions? If so, linking her to Gore and a toxic location seem very appropriate.

I honestly don't know -- I don't follow the environmental movement.

The thing about this article is that I was able to legitimately post this thread under Political Humor, and yet it is a serious article from both FoxNews (and the Los Angeles Times also had an article about this)...
