I wonder when Petreaus is going to figure out that there is no such thing as a “moderate” muslim.

Burning korans seems to be a good way to reach out for dialog. Not unlike building Victory Mosques.

This is a stupid idea. Not that anyone should be surprised when someone who wears jean shorts came up with it.

I was flipping around on the news stations this morning and stopped on Good Morning America. They were doing a segment on this. It made me laugh because they were doing a thing on Islam is peaceful, but they were saying in the same breath that it would endanger American troops if this church burned Korans. Let me see. If Islam is peaceful, why would it endanger anyone if this church burns Korans? And the funny thing was, neither of the hosts saw anything crazy in saying both of these things in the same breath.

I’m considering burning a chapter in the privacy of my own home on a regular basis. With the internet, it’s no trouble at all to print out chapters as needed.

Dove World Outreach Center's plans to burn Korans on Saturday to mark the anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.

Who's the moron who thought this would be a good idea? You think they hate us now.

Both the Commander-In-Chief and a General in charge of a war have called for Americans to stifle their First Amendment rights.

What do they think will happen if we actually do give up all our rights because of violent muslims?

Will we be safer?
Will they stop trying to kill infidels?
Will they cease jihad?
Will they begin to tolerate non-muslims in any way?

No.

Benjamin Franklin had it right. This is a perfect example.

Don’t ever give up your rights for some false promise of security. Ever. You’ll end up losing both your security and your freedom.

Burn ‘em.

Petraeus needs to familiarize himself with the concept of total war.

Living infidels is what really makes them go crazy. So all us infidels should stop breathing just so we don’t make them angry? Yeah, right.

Well, general, we know you have to follow the orders of your commander. And we KNOW what the Marxist Muslim in the Oval Office thinks.

But I think a national Burn a Koran Day would be a good idea.

These scum feel THEIR religion, THEIR prophet, etc are untouchable but they have no problem insulting or killing other people who are not Muslims.

Screw them all - burn the Korans.

The muslims in Afghanistan are on TV right this minute burning the US flag and effigies of Petraeus (I think it is.)

How will NOT burning the koran change anything?

Trying to win the hearts and minds of muslims is endangering our troops. We need to kill more bad guys until they decide it isn't worth fighting us. Although, they will eventually act up again, and then we need to kill more.

They will never like us.

What endangers our troops is having them in Afghanistan at all when Peetreus himself has said that the goal there is to make an accomodation with the taliban and allow them back in power. This is crazy. I say bring the troops home now!

What does the General have to say about IRAN paying Taliban to kill Amerocans? Are Afgan citizens that are taking part in the “Death to America” protest being paid by IRAN?

Here is an idea for the General and the administration, turn over the running of the fight to the people that know how to win, ie the military, get rid of all Congressional oversight, kick the UN out of the US. Collateral damage is to be expected, if Muslim citizens will not divulge where the insurgents are hiding amongst them, too bad for them.

What does this idiot think will happen to the troops when 1.2 billion muslims realize they can yank the average American's chain on command by threatening them?

Might as well just bring em home NOW.

The Kenyan muhammadan commie put him up to this and it stinks.

Brought over from the ATRW thread:I’ve been thinking about Petraeus’s comments about the church burning the moslem book. I suspect, I cannot know, that Petraeus has been ordered to say something - anything - to try to dissuade that from happening. Who has the authority to order P to do anything? No, not his wife! General P has been ordered to speak against it by Caligula. Caligula is personally outraged by the church’s protest, probably tried to order some authority, police perhaps, FBI to stop it, found out he can’t do that and then ordered Petraeus to jump into the fray.

That is the only way General P’s comments make sense to me. General P has made his career out of protecting our first ammendment rights. We don’t say, “please don’t hurt me! I won’t do such-and-such.” We speak out and we protest. We’ve protested the enemies during other wars. The proper response is to hit the enemy harder, not wimpy roll over.

That’s the way I see it.

When they found bibles in Iraq, they took them from the soldier who had them, and they burned them.

I’m sure Gen Petraeus remembers that.

That said, some commander’s insensitivity to Christianity is no reason to violate “2 wrongs don’t make a right.”

However, in the Gainesville Church’s defense, they are little Paul’s doing what Paul oversaw in Acts 19....burning false religious texts.

The controversy comes as some 120,000 US and allied troops are waging a counter-insurgency campaign against the Taliban in Afghanistan, a campaign whose goals include winning support for the US-backed government from the largely Muslim population.

We could solve the whole Afghanistan problem if we just converted all the Muslims there to Christianity.
