The United States government in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups.
The embassy wants to emphasize that we strongly condemn the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan.
President Obama made clear in Cairo in his speech on June 4, 2009 that he considers it part of his responsibility as President to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they occur. And during his recent Iftar speech at the White House he said: Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.
Americans from all religious and ethnic backgrounds reject the offensive initiative by this small group in Florida. A great number of American voices are protesting the hurtful statements made by this organization. Numerous interfaith and religious groups in America are actively working to counter this kind of ignorance and misinformation that is offensive to so many people in the U.S. and around the world.
Just a few days ago, President Obamas Special Envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain visited Afghanistan, reaching out to political leaders, religious leaders, students and all citizens of Afghanistan, communicating the important message of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Muslim communities all around the world.
Kind of proves the point if this is all it takes to make the "moderate" muslims go over into full jihad.
That was just a guy in his neighborhood.
Same can be said for building a Ground Zero victory mosque.
Church bent on burning Koran

We wanted to send a very clear message to them that we are not interested in their Sharia law.
This is a real slap in the face to Muslims who are not interested in their Sharia law.
If Petraeus says dont do it, dont do it.

These jihadists cling to guns and religion. Why is Barack making such concessions to them? Why doesn’t he ridicule those as he does the citizens of “flyover country”?
Kill them all and let G_d sort them out.
So is burning a flag. But it sure catches everyone’s attention.
This is the way it works: a radical Islamist almost blows up Times Square, and it doesn’t get the attention it deserves. A preacher in a tiny church threatens to burn a book, and we get all this commotion. My message to the Muslims: want to live in this country? Then tbey should be prepared to take flack. Mormons have, Catholics have, and Jews have. We are all still here and thriving. Just don’t demand preferential treatment.
Oh my!
;>
Burn,baby burn!!!
if you want to cower and walk eggshells so as to not piss of the mad mullahs, suit yerself...
eventually all those hiding under the bed, hoping the mo-ham-head boogeymen will spare them, or eat them last...WILL be eaten...
next you'll try to tell me that Hitler crossed the rhine because chamberlain called him a nazi...
I wouldn’t put another dime into an Islamic country, Iran included. For decades they did not say a word about their nuke program, support for Hezbollah, and persecution of Christians there. But when their voted didn’t count they wanted our help. Islam is not leaving their govt anytime soon (if at all), and the fight is here now.
Many of us are doing those other things.
Burning the koran is a REACTIONARY act. It is a RESPONSE. SECOND BLOOD.
Your suggestions are excellent, but getting in their faces and telling them “No, not so fast, Abdul. We aren’t gonna lay down for you and you’re not gonna use our hospitality and graciousness against us anymore.” Their response to provocation will be very revealing over time to the dumbasses who aren’t paying attention but nevertheless vote or have the capacity to vote.
Burn, baby burn.
People can be offensive to other religions. I have seen cases in which a crucifix was placed in urine as a piece of art, or a Bible burned numerous times. People have a right to do these things, so long as they don’t get someone, or cause serious property damage. As for everyone in the U.S., I would say that plenty of people would write on their blogs about how burning a Qu’ran was a good or a bad thing. IMO, if someone bought the Koran just to burn it, they wasted money, why not just write on a blog an argument against Islam?
As for liberals, I never understood how they spend their time trying to look good to them when the very beliefs they espouse (i.e. gay rights, secularism, etc.) are the elements which are among the most offensive to Islam, and many times more so to the openly radical amongst Islam.
That's their business, not mine.
“As much as I hate the offensive things some nuts do in the name of free speech, I respect their right.”
Did you respect the right of Wikileaks to publish classified material?
“These Muslims must learn that we do not FEAR them as that is exactly how it will be interpreted should we ever back down.
They think we are weak and 9/11 is a example of that.”
So the 9/11 suicide bombers would not have attacked if they thought we were strong? Why should a suicide bomber care? He’s going to be dead. There’s nothing that can be done to him in retaliation.
