WASHINGTON John Boehner could walk down most American streets without turning a head.
But the perpetually tanned, chain-smoking Ohioan might be the next House speaker and a huge force in national politics, trying to manage an increasingly libertarian-leaning Republican caucus while leading the opposition to President Barack Obama's policies.

Run for Congress then. It’s so easy to say “Well someone has to be better!” Why not you?
Pence is ok...I just don’t want to see Mr. Permatan on TV anymore
Run for office. If you think I’m a part of the problem and you have the answer, then suit up and do it.
The GOOOH idea sounds better and better all the time.
Sorry,
I am not interested. I will just wait around to pick up the pieces of whats left of our country once the establishment is done sucking the life out of it. Shouldn’t be too much longer now...
Not impressed.
Whether I should run is irrelevant. We, the people, have accepted the crap sandwiches they’ve been dishing out for years. We’ve all been busy doing our jobs, raising our families and just didn’t do our jobs. So, now some of us are paying attention and doing our jobs as citizens. THAT doesn’t mean I’m any more qualified or not to run. But THEY WORK FOR ME and I’m sick of what they’ve done to us. Holding their feet to the fire is MY JOB as a citizen.
Mike Pence would be a good choice. He is the head of the House Republican Conference and has shown great leadership potential in his 4 terms. He will likely be up for ballot as the Majority Leader, but I would take him as Speaker.
No doubt. They never learn. Idiots.
And he does look like Humphrey Bogart!!!!
Lame.
So call Boehner’s office and talk to him. Tell him what you just wrote. Just make sure you actually have ideas that will work and have the effect you want.
Here’s a freebie: I’ve been talking to Blunt’s office for a couple of years about putting forward a Constitutional Amendment.
“All non-required bills that are to be voted on must be read into the Congressional Record by an elected member of the appropriate house.”
That should put an end to 1,500 page bills that no one has read.
Mebbe so.
But, inspiring you, that's not his job.
His job was inspiring the GOP caucus -- even though they were a decided minority -- holding them together against a huge Democrat majority.
He did that job exceedingly well.
As minority leader (or majority leader), Boehner isn't responsible for PR -- he's not trying to impress you, the public or the press with his personality or his rhetorical skills.
His job is leading the Republican caucus. And, in this respect, he's done a pretty damn good job.
Oh term limits would indeed work. Each of them would be on the same level and them not knowing to much would be an asset to the Citizens. Knowing to much about how to scam or manipulate the system is the problem with these guys. Also make it a crime for them to become lobbyists also.
I don’t have to run for office. For one, I’m not delusional. Second, as a conservative voter, I can simply vote the low life bums out in a primary or sit home on my hands and they can win without my vote.
Your reasoning is retarded... No one can disagree or even support someone they do or don’t like in leadership unless they are able to pull off a congressional run.
Did you happen to catch that little Tea Party thing that’s been going down for the last year and a half?
“Run for office then!”
lol

“So call Boehners office and talk to him.”
L... O... L...
If Boehner's job title had been House Majority Manager I would agree with this assessment. By virtue of his position he has a lot of face time with the American public. That is his opportunity to sell the story. To explain the vision. To articulate the difference between us and them. At that he has continually been a complete and total failure.
