A Month in the life of George W. Bush (News and many Photos) September 2005
georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news ^ | September 5, 2010

Posted on 09/05/2010 5:29:14 PM PDT by Kaslin

The month of September 2005 was a very busy month for President Bush after Katrina came on land at the Gulf coast and damaged the area. We see President Bush and First Lady Laura visiting New Orleans and other affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi to comfort the victims of the hurricane and bring aid
The country lost Chief Justice William Renquist who passed away on September 3, 2005
President Bush nominated Judge Roberts to become the next Chief Supreme Court Justice. On September 29th Justice Roberts was sworn in as the 20th? Supreme Court Chief Justice.
President Bush remembered 9/11 heroes at a Medal of Valor ceremony. He also met with several foreign leaders and addressed the Useless Nations
For the quote of the month I have chosen President Bush’s Remarks which he gave at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service on September 16, 2005

Yes, he did.

I challenge any American who watched any of
his interviews to not admit what a humble,
honest, compassionate, righteous and devoted
patriot he is ..and of such good will and
humor.

Only the most jaded and partisan will not know
how very blessed we were to have this man of
the highest integrity and devotion to duty in
the White House every single day he was there.

The great thing, also, is how many lies and
myths he handily tore up. It’s been a fabulous
week, and the high percentage of the immense
coverage has been really positive. I think
reasonable folks will realize what we all know:
he was a courageous, amazingly human and
extraordinary President.

It’s been brilliant (though it would’ve always
been just his way) to stay out of the limelight
until now .. because this fresh focus has reminded
folks of what a good man and strong leader he was.
His devotion to protecting us stands out even more
in contrast to today. But we all always knew that.

And folks have gradually awakened to the frightening
reality that we just don’t have that now, and Lord ..
protect us.

Every day, the contrast grows starker and clearer
between his time and the present.

And I know every day, especially seeing him
repeatedly this week and getting so filled
with pride anew .. I and we miss him more.

Hope your trip to see him is wonderful ..
can’t wait to hear about it. And I hope
you remember to tell him the Dosers love
him and miss him so much.

Lauer’s Bush interview fourth in ratings

Excerpt:

Matt Lauer’s interview with former President George W. Bush drew 7 million total viewers, a healthy showing for a news program but less than half of the 19 million people who were watching “Dancing With the Stars” over at ABC, TV Newser’s Alex Weprin reports.

Behind the Bush Interview (with video)

###

Matt Lauer’s interview with former President George W. Bush, which aired on NBC Monday, was one of the biggest of the “Today” host’s career. POLITICO caught up with “Today” show executive producer Jim Bell on Tuesday morning to get his reaction to the piece (it drew 7 million viewers) and to examine what the “get” meant for both Lauer and his flagship program.

“There was a lot packed into that hour,” said Bell, who described a two-year process of persuading Bush to give Lauer the exclusive.

“There was some serious woo-age,” said Bell. “We’re in this with a lot of other people looking for that interview.”

It was quite interesting to hear the gentleman from NBC talk about this being the biggest interview of Lauer’s career. I guess that was the case, but from my perspective the job Lauer did was nothing to brag about! President Bush ran circles aroung him—no surprise there.

Thank you both for the Links to Rush’s Interview with our Dear President! I didn’t get to Look for the Interview on Rush’s Site Yesterday as I had Planned, so am Very Thankful for these Links. I’m Listening Now while Eating Lunch, and just Heard our President Condemn the Weasel Harry Reid’s Evil Words, “This War is Lost.” Our President is Awesome!

ALL: Today was absolutely AWESOME — the President, the weather, the venue, the crowd (and PHANCYPANTS for unexpectedly but much appreciatedly — yes, I invented a word just for this occasion — saving us a seat right up front)!

You can get a great feel for the event by viewing the following:

I don’t know how the President does it: Before our event (which began at 1:30 PM), he gave a speech in Chicago. Immediately after our event, he did an interview with Bill O’Reilly (yes, O’Reilly flew to Dayton for the interview) . . . I’m exhausted after just ONE major event today and he manages THREE!!

Seeing Bush At Wright Patt base was awesome for me. I lived north of Dayton in Troy,Ohio. Beautiful community Bush visited when he was running. Wright Patt is held very high among the citizens there. Bush being there was icing on the cake!

That's SO cool, caww! I didn't know you lived in Troy. That's my husband's old stomping grounds.

It had to be awesome to be there!
