Plouffe: Limbaugh, Beck and Palin are a problem for GOP

President Barack Obama's political adviser, David Plouffe, on Sunday called Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin the leaders of the Republican party — and also a "problem" for the GOP in this fall's elections and beyond.

Plouffe emphasized the "intolerance" and "extremism" of the tea party and right wing of Republican party as both a short-term and long-term electoral problem for the moderate GOP, citing their attacks even on conservative senators such as Tom Coburn of Oklahoma as an example of how narrowly they have tailored their messaging and base.

"Right now — and this is a problem for them — I do think Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, they are the leaders of the party," Plouffe said on "NBC's "Meet the Press." "There is an intolerance in that party and an extremism, that I think is where the real energy is, and so I think you'll see in '11 and '12 with that presidential primary, those are going to be the people who come out to vote."

Tea party-backed candidates — from Sharron Angle in Nevada, Rand Paul in Kentucky and, most recently, Joe Miller in Alaska — have enjoyed high levels of succes in primary battles, but Plouffe and the Democrats are banking on the hope that these candidates will alienate Independents and more moderate Republicans.

With Limbaugh, Beck and Palin emerging as the leaders of the GOP, and edging out more mainstream Republicans, Plouffe said Democrats could make gains in specific races across the country.

"That's going to be a problem [for them]," Plouffe said.

Mr. Plouffe, you may be talking, but all we’re hearing is “Blah, blah, blah.”

Jackson, Wright, Sharpton, Reid, Pelosi... The list of who’s a problem for the Democrats could go on for years.

These same idiots once tried to paint Ronald Reagan as a problem for Republicans. Some problem!

The problem here is that the Democrats/Liberals think of “moderate” Republicans as middle of the road. The Republican conservatives and independents think of a “moderate” Republican as a RINO.

I think he misses the old days, back when he and Rahm and Obambi could just hang out at the local bath houses and work things out

Pretty crude attempt at spin. And a day late and a dollar short. Same crap they tried last year, trying to demonize Rush as the "head of the GOP." Didn't work then, won't work now. What these thugs refuse to admit is that the Tea Party and Co. are a lot closer to the mainstream than the regime is. The polls are consistent enough that it seems clear.

Glenn Beck will be surprised to learn that he’s a Republican.

Joseph Goebbles, heard on a recent BBC broadcast:

“Prime Minister Churchill is bad for the British prosecution of the war effort against Germany. The British people should reject Churchill and re-elect Neville Chamberlain”.

Well, Plouffe's right about one thing. There's is a problem for the moderate/rinos!

I am openly advocating republican's in Arizona vote FOR the democrat opponent to oust John "Liberal Coddler" McCain this November. It's an opportunistic time to do it with all the expected gains republican's stand to garner.

The only thing saving the GOP right now is the fact that they are not the Democrat Party.

Does the GOP know they're not the Democrat Party?

No, the big problem for the Republican Party is if they kept running RINOs for office. Plouffe just wants Republicans to keep electing mealy mouth weenies who accept their radical liberal agenda.

Ah Mr. Plouffe. Methinks thou doest reach too far.

Of course, given your desperate situation, who can blame you?

Personally, I like to see the GOP lead by Rush, Sarah and Glen. They would do a much better job than the squishes we have now.

That's the dumbest thing I've read today.

But then...it's still early.

MEET THE PRESS(NBC)just had David Plouffe and went on at length to talk about the economy. At one point, Plouffe says “I’m not an economist”, I hope folks realize it is just running an Infomercial for Democrats.

the "intolerance" and "extremism" of the tea party

Even Plouffe knows that the left has over used the R word to the point that it has no zing or sting anymore. So now they are forced to use phrases like this.

I really wish one interviewer would press for one example where a member of the right wing triumvirate that he lists ever said anything intolerant or extreme that was not completely supported by facts. Personally, I find his boss's statement “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” pretty darned extreme but that is just me.

If I may paraphrase Barry Goldwater, intolerance of marxists is no vice. Limbaugh, etc., may be scourge of the GOP, but, not the vast right wing conspiracy.

Plouffe and the other Bolshecrats have not learned the lessons of Rostenkowski when he encounter the first modern tea party.
