Tuesday evening, Christine Judd was still the Athletic Director and Dean of Students at Cathedral High School in Springfield, Mass. Then suddenly, after a single meeting on Wednesday morning, she was not.
According to MassLive.com, Judd met with officials of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield Wednesday after the diocese -- which runs Cathedral and other Catholic schools in the Springfield area -- learned that Judd, an open lesbian, married her longtime partner in August.
Judd isn't a newcomer to Cathedral. The Springfield resident served as AD for three years and dean of students for six years. She'd been at Cathedral 12 years in all before she "resigned," on Wednesday. And though she may have technically resigned, her decision didn't seem to be so open ended when you hear Judd describe the options that the diocese presented her with.
"I was given a choice of termination or resignation," Judd said. "I'm hurt, but I wish nothing but the best for Cathedral, its students, the parents, the athletic teams, administration and faculty. I bleed purple (the school's color)." ...
"I married my partner this summer," Judd said. "I was hoping that my loyalty, my professionalism the last 12 years would supersede the current hypocrisy that has already been shown with the Diocese of Springfield."

What gave them the first clue that she was a LESBIAN?????
Ok, Irish Catholic. Not Roman Catholic! Heh.
? Do you really think the diocese had to promote a lesbian to be dean of students?
Am I reading the article wrong or did this woman in fact live openly in a lesbian relationship for a number of years while acting as AD of a Latin Rite HS and being described as a pillar of the Church? Was that all OK until she “married”? Was the gay sex outside of marriage OK but the “marriage” was just too much for the diocese to take?
I’d love to know if she regularly received communion.
Not good, mom.
Not only that but she believes that her service gives her the right to defy the church.
DLTDHYAOTWO.
Or better yet, hire folks who are only too happy to work for the church.
All the used D cells in her trash?
Just call me Karnac the Magnificent! LOL
What I find interesting is that the secular articles reporting this story claim that Judd is an "open lesbian," but I will bet she was not in the least bit "open" about her sexual orientation when applying for the job at Cathedral High School....when she was duly informed about Church policy.
If Judd did not agree with Church teaching, she should have applied for a job at a public school. But she did not.
Here is an excerpt from the report published in the online edition of the Catholic Observer called IObserve:
CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL'S ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, DEAN OF STUDENTS RESIGNS
Sept. 3, 2010
...Iobserve has learned that pictures of Judds civil marriage were circulating on the Internet and those photos were brought to the attention of officials earlier this week.
In a written statement, diocesan spokesperson Mark E. Dupont stated, Without being specific to this matter, it should be clear that all employees of our Catholic schools are made aware of our policies and regulations, this includes language that clearly states that whenever by public example, an employee engages in or espouses conduct which contravenes the doctrine and teaching of the Catholic Church, that employee may be subject to disciplinary action.
Judd, in her capacity as athletic director would have been well informed on school policies especially in her supervision of employees in the many sports programs. Nonetheless, in her comments to the Springfield newspaper she charged the diocese with hypocrisy, a claim Dupont refuted.
Our past failings do not give us license to ignore well known church teaching, Dupont commented to Iobserve. To do so would be, in fact, a hypocrisy and contradiction to the values we believe in and are teaching in our schools; so while we certainly want to be compassionate and understanding, we must be true to who we are.
In closing Dupont stated, We are certainly thankful to Ms. Judd for her past service at Cathedral High School and wish her the best in the future.

Not Irish Catholic either.
Well done! We should all show our appreciation by sending a small donation to the Diocese.
I’m wondering the same. Why was she hired in the first place? If they found out she was gay after she was hired, why wasn’t she let go immediately?
In your mind are homosexuals that openly flaunt their perverted lifestyle immune from termination from religious organizations who openly state it is against their doctrinal teachings?

“They are everywhere” Believe me, gays and lesbians are attracted to jobs that involve contact with children. No, they are not pedophiles, they are QUEERS and plan to advance their agenda every chance that they get! Their influence must be stopped. Who’d of thunk that she was a lesbian? /sarcasm off
Who writes these headlines? Sit back and read what you have written. It makes no sense to be writing about a lesbian catholic school. I am hoping that there are none to write about. C- on the report.
ouch. will leave mark.
Ay.
guess she pushed the edge of the envelop too far
Where's a Phinehas, when you need one?
(See Num 25:6-15)
I attended Catholic elementary school in the ‘70’s, and our softball coach back then was openly lesbian. In hindsight, I wonder - do Catholic schools tend to overlook these things when they hire coaches?
