In the wake of Glenn Beck's hugely successful Restoring Honor rally held in Washington, D.C. this weekend, the Huffington Post has published an offer of $100,000 to anyone with evidence that would destroy Beck's reputation and take him off the political/cultural battlefield.
An essay written by Beau Friedlander, the last editor-in-chief of Air America before it shut down this year, was posted in the Politics section of the Huffington Post today with the title, $100,000 For Glenn Beck's Sex Tape.
Friedlander says he will not use his own money for the hit, but that he will "broker" the deal.
It is time to pop the tea baggers' favorite balloon (so what if it will be replaced by another?), and with that in mind I hereby offer to negotiate a $100,000 payday to the person who will come forward with a sex tape or phone records or anything else that succeeds in removing Glenn Beck from the public eye forever. I am not offering the cash myself, but I will broker the deal and/or raise the money for what you bring to the table. (And it better be good.)

Friedlander couches his offer in the context of Andrew Breitbart's offer of $100,000 for the Journolist listserve messages, but this is more in line with pornographer Larry Flynt's blackmail campaign against Congressmen during Bill Clinton's impeachment, which followed a threat from Clinton conveyed by George Stephanopoulos to expose their sex lives.
Likewise, the Huffington Post has ties to the Obama White House, raising the question of whether the White House is behind this targeting of Beck.

We heard all about the “McCarthy” tactics to get Communists engaged in espionage and subversive acts on behalf of the Soviet Union and how it was a “witchhunt” yet for 20 years now the Pravda Media has gone on a “take down” mission to destroy every single talk radio host on conservative AM radio.
Why, you’d think after 20 years the tactic would be exposed and covered in history books and denounced from the floor of Congress.
Oh yeah, those who decide such things sided with Uncle Joe Stalin, I forgot.
I don't understand her epistemological / entomological conversion the progressivism / statism. It usually happens in the other direction.
This happened after her husband hopped the fence if my memory is correct. With that said, was she a phony all along (remember when she was one of the darlings of the conservative movements) or is their something really broken with her heart, soul, and spirit with the collapse of her marriage? Or were they broke all along?
Perhaps in time all the answers to my questions will come to light...
So it isn’t “blackmail” to make such an offer? They are setting a price and surely someone with “the goods” would have to sell to the highest bidder, no?
Remember when we were told that we couldn’t believe the women harassed by Bill Clinton because they’d sold their stories to the National Enquirer and “real media” doesn’t pay for news items?
That was my thought, too. Back when her “husband” was running for Governor of CA, some of the very libs she now courts had posted some pretty sordid stories about Ariana. A really good muckraker might still find some of them.
Because the Democrats are amoral socialists who don't give a damn about the issue, it's merely designed to turn off the conservative base.
There is no hypocrisy for a Stalinist.

2. It is very unsurprising to me that liberals won’t address the issues Beck brings up, but try to attack him personally.
3. I seriously doubt Beck does anything odd. He was a bad drunk and reformed. Typically, reformed bad drunks are really stable and normal people.
Back then, the story was that she married him for his money. I doubt she minded much that he “switched sides.”
I’m sure Glenn has things in the closet. I’m equally sure he is committed to coming out and saying “yeah, I did that” no matter what, because he has never claimed to have been squeaky clean. And he’s known these tactics were coming.
I am so surprised. Who would have thought the Left would resort to this type of thing?
