People keep asking for photos of known crowds for comparison sake and help in estimating the size of the crowd for Glen Beck's rally today. Here goes - using Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor Michigan for a nice even crowd size.
What does it look like to you?
Not only that, but the Beck rally people are all morbidly obese white people who take up a lot more room - at least the space of three normal sized people.
I think I could say I guarantee that for every person who went there were probably 15, maybe more, who couldn’t and watched it on TV/Internet.
I’m one of them.
The stadium and aerial of the DC mall are the exact same scale. Because of the angled seating and close proximity, I’m willing to say that no more than 100,000 can fit in the footprint of the stadium seating while on flat ground.
The stadium overlay also covers the “shade areas” so that’s moot. The only question is how many more stadiums are present in the fringes.
There are at least 200,000 on site during the time of the crowd photo. the question is how many more.

When I get the photos done, I will post them.
“So how many showed up to march with Sharptongue?”
I would say DOZENS OF DOZENS.
That is what the MSM Stasi surrogate stenographers actually said were the number of tea partiers at the last DC event this Spring.
They could pull out that dozens of dozens estimate for today’s Sharpton rally and this time have a very accurate precise count.
Thanks!
It is difficult to see but the world war 2 memorial is actually between them.
CBS outsourced to an aerial photography company:

Note the pics. To me they looked cropped somewhat in an attempt to hide the real number of people.
That’s a great photo.
There must have been Billions for Beck.
The gAYssociated Press says anywhere from “dozens” to “scores” and also mentioned “some say” “hundreds”.
I think you are close.
Of course I haven't shaved for over 5 years but what the hey...
Washington Post gave a conservative estimate of “between 2,000 and 3,000”.
The stadium photo is misleading. It only proves you can put two-and-a-half stadiums inside The Mall.
I really smiled at Palin’s one sentence, and no one is reporting on the uptake from it.......
“Two-score and seven years ago....” (in re MLK’s speech, at the Lincoln Memorial). But you knew that.
I don’t remember too much of her speech after that. She had me right there.
This reminds me of another saying: “You had me at Merlot.” That’s another story, though.
Definitely. You could put all the attendees of the Sharpton rally, the invited speakers, the R&B/Soul band, the sound system and the 6 rows of folding chairs on the back of a flatbed trailer which doubles as a stage and still have room for other stuff.
That balloon is likely the one used by the company (AirPhotosLive.com) that CBS hired to make the 87,000 estimate.
