People keep asking for photos of known crowds for comparison sake and help in estimating the size of the crowd for Glen Beck's rally today. Here goes - using Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor Michigan for a nice even crowd size.

What does it look like to you?

Crowd density differs depending on whether or not folks are standing, or sitting on chairs/benches, or sitting on the ground.

The density will also vary with the temperature. You get a nice cold day in January and you can have a crowd 20 deep that's only 3 ft thick. You get a hot day in July, and they'll be stretched out a lot just so they can breathe.

Plus, since this rally was held at the West end of the Mall you really need to find out how many were UNDER THE TREES.

” So how many showed up to march with Sharptongue? “

His crowd looked like a full movie theater that offers stadium seating .
Unlike Beck and Palin and Bachmann-Al was angry , sweaty ,
bitter , ad hominem
and paranoid.
I didn’t see a single American flag at Al’s itty bitty rally.
And if he honored the troops, the national media didn’t show it.

MSM will tell us that 1,200 showed.

Of which 80% were KKK.

I can tell you that there are a lot people under those trees on the right. We were there today and it was packed.
Still uploading pictures to post.

I think 500,000 +.

A very clever approach to a very difficult problem; my only question: how did you make sure that both aerial views are at the same scale?

They certainly look like they’re at least *close* to the same scale, but if the magnification on one is off by, say, 50% on one compared to the other, the crowd estimates will be off by *at least* that amount.

I don’t think I’ll get any sleep until the exact number is determined.

CBS hired a Michael Moore groupie to do their crowd “estimates”:

Here is the Twitter page for the owner of the aerial imaging company:

Curt Westergard

Check out some of the people Curt follows on Twitter:

Al Gore

Also, another one of his friend:

How is anyone going to know the true count?

SEE BS was saying 87,000 and I wonder how they came up with such a weird number -— why not 85k or 90k....but 87?

I want to know how many people are in support of restoring America’s Honor? Would you say for each person who could go, there were 15 who couldn’t go?

What are your dimensions for MI Stadium compared to the "lawn"? Are you sure the cut-out of MI Stadium is to the exact size in area to where you dropped it on the mall?

Is the relative distance from Keech to Snyder the same as 22nd to 21st?

Somebody did an actual anaysis, not guess, of last September’s Tea Party rally at the Capitol:
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=33552

Somebody should do another one for this rally.

By the way, there were large crowds at today’s rally seeking shade (it was about 90 degrees) under the trees north and south of the reflecting pool, almost as dense as the crowds visible in the pictures

Back in the day (WAY back in the day) I was a Mall crowd counter for various nefarious organizations and movements (Nixon and Mitchell better start shakin'/Today's pig is tomorrow's bacon -that sort of thing).

Anyway, the conventional Memorial to Monument full house estimate is 300 000. That's pretty close to what we saw today.
