In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn't have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue. The decision came just hours after the Drudge Report posted stories from Washington Whispers and the Weekly Standard about how gun groups were fighting the lead bullet ban.
The EPA had planned to solicit public responses to the petition for two months, but this afternoon issued a statement rejecting a 100-page request from the Center for Biological Diversity, the American Bird Conservancy, and three other groups for a ban on lead bullets, shot, and fishing sinkers. The agency is still considering what to do about sinkers.

Defund the EPA
They can have all my lead. I will gladly give it to them one shot at a time.
Those will work just fine outta my smokepole. Not very accurate, so those boys need to step a bit closer.
Quite simple, really. Think November 2 and getting Democrats re-elected.
It’s election season.
Don’t piss off the gun nut / eager voters anymore than they have to.
Us gun nuts are easy to rile and vote.

Something is fishy...
As my wife would say, the White House Marxists want to incite civil unrest in order to use force to put it down as a warning!

The EPA is definitely on our hit parade for government elimination!
Ban the EPA , join the NRA !
I’m sure the local NRA naysayers aren’t too pleased with this .We will hear how it was the GOA that did this ...in 3..2..1
As far as projectiles, lead is the proper metal such purposes.
NO! Don't give them an inch. Stand united. Hunters, fisherman, whatever. Piss be upon them.
Kit.
>> I enjoy reading all the paranoid comments when its the rats who are paranoid.
Guns for D but not for thee.
(( ping ))
See what I mean?
This isn’t over. After the Republicans retake the house and senate we need to read them the riot act to defund the EPA or limit their role to an advisory, not a regulatory. I know I am pissing up a rope, but we still need to beat on our Republican representatives over this.
Gay penguins! Classic. Lol. You owe me a new keyboard!
I do not expect the government to ban ammunition. I expect the government to tax it out of reach of the middle class. They will start with “sin taxes” like on cigarettes and liquor and before you know it every round will carry a $2 federal tax.
It will be up to SCOTUS if this is considered a 2A infringement. If not, then they will simply tax ammunition so every box of 9mm carries a $20 tax, or $50, or whatever it takes so that only the upper class can afford to shoot regularly.
So, is EPA changing strategy here? Ban lead fishing sinkers first. With that as precedent, it will be easier to ban lead firearms ammunition since “see, we are just being consistent”.
Is this there strategy?
It will probably be tucked in at about page 1452 of the next 2500+ page bill.
TOTAL MILITARY VICTORY over the highly politicized EPA!
I dunno...there aren't too many metals with the molecular weight and density of lead except uranium and others near it on the atomic chart.
Lead is the most practical for a variety of reasons (weight, relative cost, etc)
