In a swift and unexpected decision, the Environmental Protection Agency today rejected a petition from environmental groups to ban the use of lead in bullets and shotgun shells, claiming it doesn't have jurisdiction to weigh on the controversial Second Amendment issue. The decision came just hours after the Drudge Report posted stories from Washington Whispers and the Weekly Standard about how gun groups were fighting the lead bullet ban.
The EPA had planned to solicit public responses to the petition for two months, but this afternoon issued a statement rejecting a 100-page request from the Center for Biological Diversity, the American Bird Conservancy, and three other groups for a ban on lead bullets, shot, and fishing sinkers. The agency is still considering what to do about sinkers.

1. The NRA did not do this.
2. The EPA would still be pushing for such a ban, except the Dems are afraid for their political life now.
3. If you think they will abandon this type of legislation, you are mistaken. It is on temporary hold.
4. The only cure for this crap is to vote the Dems out of office and hunt the subversive individuals down and punish them.
It is TIME to DownSize DC!
Eliminate entire departments (Education, EPA, etc)
Force Congress and the Senate to telecommute most of the year from their home district. Under the thumb of the electorate and away from the lobbyists. Imagine the cost savings and it would totally change the center-of-gravity of the Federal Government.
IT IS TIME!
They got CAUGHT so they Cancelling the BAN til they can HIDE IT BETTER
It also was a politically savvy move to take gun control off the table as the Democrats ready for a very difficult midterm election.”
I read the NRA’s letter to the EPA at their website and I’m convinced what the petitioners were requesting would not hold up in court. Having said that, there’s no doubt that wasn’t the reason the public comment period was closed and the entire idea dropped. This is very strange as the EPA had to think this was a legitimate request when they moved forward with a public comment period just weeks ago. The WH panicked as they knew this was going to blow up in their face in the weeks leading up to an election where they’re going to get rolled as it is.
Look for something similar to this down the road with this administration. I think they’re going to continue to pursue the ammunition angle.
It’s a wonder it’s not in the ObamaCare boondoggle.
The "gun" issue got the Dems thrown out last time ... it's a third rail issue for them and they know it. All we did today was bring it to people's attention. A moment to be proud of vigilance and action.
But you can bet the issue isn't dead.
If there is one thing the Devil doesn't do it's quit.
I think they backed down because of the strongly worded comment I left at their web site today!

In part.
The finale in “V” comes to mind.
It is TIME to DownSize DC!

Agreed. It has become adversarial to liberty and prosperity, principally due to bad policy, but partly due to sheer scale.
Control.
That's what every bit of the environmental hysteria is about.
This is simply their angle on using that excuse as the backdoor way of going after personal gun ownership:
"Have all the guns you want. Oh, but it's illegal to have ammo."
Wave that white flag you bunch of &^%&*)($#
I personally think they heard the faint shaking of a rattle on the end of a tail, and due to Obamacare, there wouldn’t be enough anti-venom to survive pressing further.
I can see the fishing sinkers, and maybe there is a better alternative to lead.
As far as projectiles, lead is the proper metal such purposes.

>>The finale in V comes to mind.
I was watching those, but I missed some, and didn’t see the finale. (The new version) They were pretty good. Better than the original I thought.
>> 3. If you think they will abandon this type of legislation, you are mistaken. It is on temporary hold.
Exactly. And as the article describes, it’s about gun control, not ‘the environment’.
Thanks for the ping. I enjoy reading all the paranoid comments when it’s the rats who are paranoid. The rats know gun control is a loser. They gave up on it in 2006. They took back the Congress in 2006.
If these enviros ever come close to getting something
like this, we need to make them include wheel weighs
too. Try and drive now greenies, yep you’ll like
having to stay under 30 mph.
This was simply a trial balloon. They didn’t expect the rise it got. It will be back.
IIRC I read something quite awhile ago that vaguely pops up in the ol’ brain cells that Congress at the time of the establishment of the EPA I believe during the Nixon Administration actually created language that allows the EPA to make laws on Congress’s behalf (IOW to speak for Congress), so they (Congress) wouldn’t be bothered with the daily activities of a bureau they don’t even understand to begin with.
Going by memory here. NOT the most reliable one at that ;)
