Woman of the Year (Sarah Palin)
THE NEW YOUR SUN ^ | August 27, 2010 | Editorial of The New York Sun

Posted on 08/27/2010 11:49:37 AM PDT by onyx

It’s a classic movie plot. Think “Woman of the Year,” with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. At first the man and the woman hate each other, then they fall into each other’s arms? Well, feature the fight that has erupted between the president of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka, and Governor Palin of Alaska.

The leader of Big Labor went to Anchorage to give a speech and attacked Mrs. Palin, accusing her of doing everything from writing notes on her hands to coming out with conspiracy theories about President Obama and his “death panels” to getting close to calling for violence. “Sometimes — about Sarah Palin — you’ve just got to laugh,” Mr. Trumka said. “ . . . But it’s not really funny.”

Mrs. Palin turned around and gave as good as she got, or better, in one of her patented Facebook postings, a demarche headlined “Union Brothers and Sisters, Join Our Commonsense Cause!” She wrote as a one-time card-carrying sister of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and United Steelworkers, cards she held by virtue of her husband’s membership in the two unions.

She asserted that it was “kind of ironic that a union boss has the gall to accuse anyone of threatening violence,” particularly in light of what she called the “violent attempts” by the Service Employees “to intimidate those who wanted to make their voices heard in last year’s town halls.”

She argued the real jobs problem was being caused by the policies of President Obama. Suddenly the Internet came alive like the silver screen, so much so that a columnist of the Washington Post, E.J. Dionne, issued a long complaint.

Seems that Mr. Trumka can’t get anyone to listen to, let alone write about, his usual speeches about what Mr. Dionne characterizes as “social CONTINUE

You mean THIS gem?

Since I don’t think they should even be able to vote, what makes you think I’d want one as CIC.

Pissant the woman hater thread

So tell me, piss, where is the fantasy when you admit to not wanting women to vote, pull out a ridiculous comparison between you and Jefferson, say you've made it clear quite a few times on FR, then back track and whine when freepers continue to use that very same quote. Must be some fantasy when your 'not allowing women to vote' views draw a smackdown from the site owner.

But then again, FR...

There are folks here that do [deify Palin].

List 'em.

No thanks.

[::shrugs::] Not an assertion needing to be taken seriously, then.

THIS IS ONE EDITORIAL NOT A CONSENSUS.

I don’t give a rip what you think. This thread was completely about Sarah Palin until you disrupted and hijacked it.

Same behavior by you, the possessed. Take Jim’s advice. Seek help and take time off from here.

Hide behind JR, I don’t care. For you cultists, I know it bothers you when I tell you who I’d support for 2012.

DeMint/Bachmann
Bachmann/DeMint
Rounds/Bachmann
Rounds/DeMint
DeMint/Rounds
Bachmann/Rounds
Hunter/DeMint
Hunter/Rounds
Rounds/Hunter
Inhofe/Demint
Inhofe/Bachmann
Bolton/Hunter
King/DeMint
King/Barbour

Etc Etc etc.

...so that Duncan can finally beat "not sure" in some primary some where.

That is highly unlikely. Perhaps if she wins Meg Whitman will give Hunter a job on her staff. It's the least she could do, since he does support her.
And let's be honest. Hunter isn't going to make any money selling books. Compared to Palin's, his book sales will reflect his 2008 primary percentages.

Most here don’t deify her. It’s pretty clear where the obsession lies, and it’s not with Palin supporters.

Jag, my favorite thing about Palin is the way she drives the leftists nuts. She loves God and America, and she is fearless.

She has a remarkable talent for summing things up: “Death panels” and “9/11 mosque”. Very Reaganesque.

What I don’t like is how people have built her up into a mythical figure who is not to be criticized. That is what the left did to Obama.

We are better than that.

I ask once again:

I reckon if some half baked editorial (in August, no less) named McCain the “Man of the Year”, you’d complain when 163 freepers had other ideas?

I can support a fair amount of good conservatives myself, some of them are on your list.

Hunter will never run and will destroy his own credibility if he decides again.

I wish the best for him, he's a good man, but is long gone as a possible candidate.

Like I've said before, you're the only cultist I know on FR, worshipping a man who can't even beat "unsure" in a primary isn't a good thing.......

Ya gotta love Sarah, you know she will never bow down to anyone, unions or world leaders. She’d be the one to tie Amanutjob’s panties into a un-tangable knot too. She may be the ONE to release the shackles of the mid east women. (wishful thinking on my part.)

Thank you for posting this.

When Mrs Palin is POTUS it will be refreshing to have someone in the White House that we can respect. Something all too rare in our so-called leaders.

“The world is her oyster” - Michele Bachmann, speaking about her friend, Sarah Palin

You’re welcome, dear jla!

I am certainly looking forward to President Palin and VP Bachmann.

In my view, it’s time for some “real” change. :)

You took it seriously enough to reply to it.

Took you seriously enough to assume you actually had something to share with the rest of the class.

Just noise, though. Gotcha.

I think the finest thing she is doing is revving up the national vote to get rid of the dem congress this year.

She's making a huge difference, and supporting her efforts in that goal until November are what we should do.

That’s a fine argument, as far as it goes. But the corollary is that Rounds/King/Bachmann/DeMint/Bolton etc. would be equally unknown as a Hunter and thus have little chance. In fact, Ive heard that argument made. Unknown or the infamous ‘no executive experience’. So if we end up with a couple of these guys running against the Newt HuckRomlenty’s of the world - should I pick a Newt Huckromlenty because they “can” be nominated? Or are we going to learn from 2008 that media annointed frontrunners are usually a bad thing.
