Once they come off, or anyone else comes off, of their sacred land with cigarettes that are not being taxed by New York state, we are going to address that issue.
Next Wednesday could be interesting.

Just how in the hell does the state plan on implementing a sales tax BEFORE an item is sold????
They are in effect forcing the tobacco companies to sell to Indians at a higher rate then they sell to anyone else.
Thats not legal

Good for them. sell their own cigarettes under their own names, such as : Marlbouro, Cool, Winstom, Kamel, Eave, Tonto, Chief, Buffalo Dung, Tee-Pee-Pee, Peace Pipe Tobacco, Zig Zog cigarette papers. The possibilities are endless.

“Paterson said he has been warned there might be violence again, but vowed the state will proceed.
There will be quite an uprising and protest to this, but I am going to maintain this policy, Paterson said. The state police tell us over and over again that there could be violence and death as a result of some of the measures were taking.
Now, if they were muzzies, the state would fold.

Other states have signed what are called tax parity agreements with tribes, which require the tribe to charge its own tax comparable to the state tax. While the state gets none of that money, advocates say it levels the playing field for non-Indian merchants by taking away the price advantage tribes enjoy with untaxed cigarettes., And here I thought price fixing was against the law. Silly me.

I heard a story one time about the Seminoles in South Florida
when they wanted to erect a bingo parlor and the State said “no”.
The tribe quickly erected wooden barricades across U.S. Hwy 441/State Road 7
(which ran through their reservation) and began to collect tolls from passing cars.
Approval of the bingo parlor came quickly.
I wish I know if that story was true.

“Barry Snyder”? Interesting name. It must mean “avoids taxes” in Native American.
Frankly I'm pulling for the guy. Anything to starve the beast. But at what point is the need for reservations fade?

And if the Indians put out a call for re-enforcements Big Government Chief “No-Seeum” Patterson may be in for a big surprise at who and how many answer the call.
