The Obama administration has shelved the planned prosecution of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged coordinator of the Oct. 2000 suicide attack on the USS Cole in Yemen, according to a court filing.
The decision at least temporarily scuttles what was supposed to be the signature trial of a major al-Qaeda figure under a reformed system of military commissions. And it comes practically on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attack, which killed 17 sailors and wounded dozens when a boat packed with explosives ripped a hole in the side of the warship in the port of Aden.

“I’m hopeful they will do the right thing, but still wary that they won’t turn into weak-kneed wusses.”
I understand your concern, though in defense of Newt, he took a principled stand against higher spending that culminated in the government shut-down. Clinton ultimately proved the better judge of public opinion over that impasse, as the backlash over it helped Clinton get re-elected. However, it was a minor factor compared to the resurrection of the economy once Republicans regained control of Congress. Sadly, Clinton was adept at taking credit for this while Dole was ineffective in countering this propaganda, so the rest is history.
Hopefully in 2012 people will have figured out that Obama is clueless when it comes to economic matters and the Republican presidential candidate won’t let him take credit for any feeble signs of recovery that are better attributed to a Republican Congress.
We had wall to wall television ads purchased with Chinese money.
Clinton opened up the trade and Nukes for cash to China. (Stuff they can fire on our kids someday, Thanks Bubba and Hitlery)
Remember, before 1992, the only thing you could buy from china was fireworks and noodles.
Wow, who could have predicted this? Could the signs be any clearer folks?
Obama is inching toward amnesty for Islamic terrorists. The Ft. Hood shooter may be next. How much will the public endure before there is a backlash?
Are they just going to opt for an immediate execution? LOL.
School children are being asked to come to school with toilet paper, because the schools can’t afford it.
We may not have tent cities on the WH lawn, but we do have a vegetable garden growing there, that isn’t needed.
The Wookie exists.
And Congress is .... (as you already mentioned.)
Does ANYONE remember why the Cole had to go to that port of call?
It had something to do with Al Gore manipulating the Cole’s regularly scheduled fueling stop....
Please help!
This is a political decision to gin up Democrat turnout... Republicans better start calling out the rats on this... America needs to know just how far wacky left our government has become. Denying justice for the deaths of sailors because of Politics? What a seriously flawed President we have in the White House.
Everyday working people I talk to here in PA can’t wait for November 2.
Wouldn’t a Republican Congress impeach Obama?
(Of course, that is also what happened with Clinton, but it didn’t seem to make any difference.)

you went straight to the triple dog dare FUBO!
“Wouldnt a Republican Congress impeach Obama?”
Well, here again, in principle I don’t see why taking a president to task for having committed a felony was an obviously bad choice. I for one was shocked that the Senate couldn’t find Clinton guilty on even one article of impeachment. And who could have predicted that Dems in Congress would have shamefully rallied around the man and indulged his framing of the issue as being “all about sex” rather than the felony he actually committed? Slimeball that he was/is, Clinton again was the better politician in this instance in terms of reading the public mood and framing the issue in a way to make him appear sympathetic rather than slimeball. However, my guess is that had the economy been as dismal as it is now, that strategy would have backfired sharply: people would have been glad for the excuse the dump the guy. But in the context of a booming economy (more the result of Republicans than Clinton), no one wanted to rock the boat.
Anyway, Obama’s been inept, but to date I don’t think he’s engaged in impeachable offenses. The lone exception might be the birth certificate thing, but Republicans would first have to nail down some solid evidence proving that before trying to impeach him on charges that might well look only like a political witch-hunt. So I’d like to think Republicans would behave responsibly—especially in light of how the Clinton impeachment turned out.
His gift from one muslim to another.
WTF was my first reaction. There is a LONG list of actions (or inactions) on behalf of the Obama regime which clearly indicate he is not only a muslim who sides with muslims, he’s not an American as well. It’s tough watching America take this sh*t.
Obama appears to have a soft spot for terrorists.
As if terror trials in NY, Mosque at ground zero, closing of GITMO, Ft. Hood handled as a “criminal matter”, Obama and Napolitano refusal to say the word “terrorist” and use of the term “Overseas Contingency Operation”, bowing to foreign muslim heads of state, and our President BEING a muslim isn’t enough? Did I leave anything out? (I’m sure I did.. It’s hard to remember ALL OF IT).
