They were putting up scaffolding down the Mall and hanging big speakers and spots for Jumbotrons.
We took a Moonlight bus tour last night, almost everyone we spoke to was in town for the Rally. One couple, from Texas, said that almost their whole plane was bound for the rally!
Our tour guide was conservative (surprise!) and got cheers and applause for his comments.
A guard at the rally site (last night) said that if you want to be down front, you should probably plan to be there around 5 AM. We don't intend to be there that early, our transpportation (the Metro), doesn't start running until 7 on Saturdays.
Will post some pictures tonight, headed to Mount Vernon this AM and the National Archives after.
Prayers up for Glenn and all the patriots attending.
My family and I will be making the trek down tomorrow.
Can you give any info on which streets are blocked off?
Appreciate it! ‘Pod.
this thread is so great for those of us who cannot attend....I hope it can remain available throughout the next 2 days...
Thanks for keeping us in the loop! I can’t wait to hear more...
I’m driving up to No. Va. this afternoon. Will be going with my sister and BIL. I MUST remember to bring tissues. I have a feeling I’m going to need them. I cry just listening to “America The Beautiful” - so a whole day will mean needing lots of tissues!
Frogmom, pics & regular updates would be WONDERFUL! They will be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks FrogMom. Looking forward to all the updates. I’m with you all in spirit!
I work in DC (no, I am not a federal employee), and although I will not be attending the rally, I wish all of you the best.
I can give those of you not familiar with the mall a few pointers.
1. When using the Metro, make sure you have enough on your farecard, or Smarttrip card to get you back and forth. Do this before you board the train bound for the location.
2. Make sure you have your own water, snacks, and yes, TP. There will be vendors probably, but the lines will be long. Porta Potties, ‘nuff said.
3. Bring a small towell, large bandanna. Make sure you have sunglasses, hats, etc. If you are not familiar with DC, get a map. If you need to exit at a place other than where you came in to DC, mark that.
If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask. I will check back as often as I can.
Regards,
AR
Are there any jumbo trons on the Washington Monument grounds? A bunch of FReepers are planning to meet at the WWII Memorial.

C-SPAN will be covering Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial this Saturday, with Sarah Palin among those expected to attend. Coverage begins 10amET.
C-SPAN also will cover the Rev. Al Sharpton’s “Reclaim the Dream” rally at Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. That event will be shown on C-SPAN later on Saturday. Rev. Sharpton will be a guest on C-SPAN’s live call-in interview program “Washington Journal” Saturday morning at 7:45amET.
I would love pics off and on from now until the rally is over!! I will be coming back to FR frequently!!!! Thanks.
there will be over a million or more there....1100 buses, no one is counting the cars.....people like me drive myself....
BTTT
Thanks for this thread! I’ll be cheking back often. Wish I was there too.
I hope the speakers are HUGE. At all the rallies in DC so far, the sound systems have been woefully inadequate.
Thank you SO much for this! We are with you in spirit, and prayers until we can get there in September.
May God bless and keep you all,
Tatt
