Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- "We are on the right side of history! We are on the side of individual freedoms and liberties and, dammit, we will reclaim the civil rights moment. We will take that movement -- because we were the people who did it in the first place." -- Glenn Beck, on his nationally syndicated radio program, May 26.
It is Glenn Beck's most audacious stunt yet: This Saturday, in the company of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the National Rifle Association and others, the Fox News Channel host will stand in the sacred shadow not just of the Lincoln Memorial, but of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. himself, near the spot where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech 47 years earlier to the exact day.
During this event -- billed as "Restoring Honor" -- Beck will aim to "reclaim the civil rights moment" for his cause, and in the process he will continue what he's been doing for the last 18 months: bending the history of 20th-century America like a Philadelphia soft pretzel.
The revisionist message behind "Restoring Honor" is nothing new for the conservative shock jock. In the year and half since President Obama took office, Beck has led his loyal followers on a journey not just to "reclaim" civil rights but much more audaciously to rewrite the sweeping narrative arc of American history from the time of the Founding Fathers forward.

What an utterly ridiculous statement! You make it sound like either what Christianity is, or what Christianity's pretenders proclaim, is tantamount to Sci-fi Scientology...where everything is "out there" and isn't rooted in history.
The incarnation of Jesus Christ is a historical claim. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a historical claim.
Likewise, Beck's belief system points to historical claims, too, about the Book of Mormon, or what Beck said on TV last week, that the Mormon jesus came to the Americas and lived there for a while and taught "scriptures" peculiar to the Mormon belief system.
If you had a university history professor who was just "marvelous" at proclaiming U.S. history -- and yet his claims about world history showed flunking potential, I don't see how you could claim that would be somehow irrelevant to his credentials and reputation.
after all; Catholic Nancy Pelosi, Mormon Harry Reid, and Muslim-sympathizer Barack Obama work together very effectivelyI missed seeing this earlier. Very good point.
THEY will work together against US and we damn well BETTER be able to work together against THEM.
Otherwise we all lose. Each and every one of us. Any who care about freedom and cherish liberty.

...huh? I really want to know what I said that made you spew this. I have absolutely no idea where this is coming from.
The incarnation of Jesus Christ is a historical claim. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a historical claim.
Never disputed that. Never said anything about it. If you think I'm protecting the Mormon doctrine, you're dead wrong.
One very basic and fundamental problem here, Colo: you're looking at this through a religious lens, I'm not. I am blind to Beck's faith, and I am so confident, so ardent, so stridently understanding and comfortable with my religious faith that Beck could spew from the Book of Mormon verbatim, and I wouldn't give a damn. I don't have to believe a thing he says, and neither do you.
The fact that everyone's arguing about Beck's faith and how evil this Mormon crap is really bugs me. Does anyone separate their secular and religious activities and associations anymore or is it pretty much that if you profess a belief in one particular religion over another, you all immediately turn off your ears to the substance?
My mother used to tell me of my step-father, "There's a lot of good information in there, you just have to sort through the bullsh!t." Fifteen years with that man, and I learned how to sort through BS with the best of them! That's all I do when I listen to Beck. If he starts on some rant that includes his faith as gospel, I mentally turn off.
Seems to me that a lot of FReepers have a hard time doing that.
Those were my words. I “stand” by them.
If you feel insulted or attacked, sorry.
Good post, rarestia. Well said.
I have 2 big trays, with a total of 18 peppers, stuffed with 4 3/4 pounds of lean beef, Lowry’s seasoned salt, liquid smoke, soy sauce, black pepper, and 2 boxes of Rice-a-Roni.
All covered with spaghetti sauce. The house smells wonderful!
Amen to your post # 193!
And good luck to all of the patriots assembling in Washington DC!
It looks like God has blessed them with beautiful weather!
Rice-a-Roni, nice! I didn’t even think of that. I usually use either brown rice or, my fiancee really loves, quinoa. If you’ve not used quinoa, you should check it out. Most “health food” stores have it. We love it as an alternative to rice, and it has a lot of protein per serving.
We had a hard winter here, and my garden was decimated. I haven’t re-planted yet due to other commitments, but I hope to get some peppers and maybe some gourds later in the season.
Some of our tomato plants are 7 feet tall.
sam: Can you imagine, on Wake Island for example, marines going up to their commanding officer and saying, “we can’t have Johnny fighting beside us. He’s a Mormon, you know.”
sam: Yup, thats the way it was on Wake Island in WWII and thats the way it should be here, too.

Were there really that many mormons fighting in WWII ???
I know during Nam many mormons like two time draft dodger Mitt Romney got “deferments” handed to them like candy...
Ok, drag in the race card. This whole discussion so far has had absolutely nothing to do with race, nothing at all, from any poster, from any position, from any argument, from any corner, but now Tennessee Nana has to drag in the race card.
I’m sorry, I don’t get your point. I don’t think you have one so I’m not going to ask you for a clarification.
I’m just going to try to give you the approval you’re obviously searching for. Good girl, Nana. You tell those big bad evil racists. That’s a good Nana. Go Nana, Go Nana, Go Nana, Go Nana, Go!

You were mentioned in Post # 182...
Gheeze, is there a drama queen award for reporting?
Not any more. That annual award was discontinued when Shep Smith won it in perpetuity back in 2004.
And the weather at the “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington DC is going to be wonderful!
It’s tomorrow. In DC. Lots of like minded patriots celebrating America and honoring the troops.
airborne how many patriots do you think there are in America ???
What percentage of the population ???
Crissy Matthews is the undisputed Queen!
The whole “tingle up my leg” incident sealed it for him!
Don’t know.
Do you?
Care to guess.
Does it matter?
Well it does matter if you are planning to “restore” honor patriotism etc...
I would think think surely be some goal ???
whats the rally for if not to improve the odds ???
So what percentage of the US population right now are patriots ???
If that were the only post that sounded funny I would have ignored it. But I’ve seen a bunch from that poster that are fishy.
