Glenn Beck Rewrites Civil Rights History [Alveda King: Park Police Forewarned, We Just Might Sing]
CNN>COM ^ | August 26, 2010 9:02 a.m. EDT | Willie Bunch, Special to CNN

Posted on 08/26/2010 3:32:54 PM PDT by fight_truth_decay

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- "We are on the right side of history! We are on the side of individual freedoms and liberties and, dammit, we will reclaim the civil rights moment. We will take that movement -- because we were the people who did it in the first place." -- Glenn Beck, on his nationally syndicated radio program, May 26.

It is Glenn Beck's most audacious stunt yet: This Saturday, in the company of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the National Rifle Association and others, the Fox News Channel host will stand in the sacred shadow not just of the Lincoln Memorial, but of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. himself, near the spot where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech 47 years earlier to the exact day.

During this event -- billed as "Restoring Honor" -- Beck will aim to "reclaim the civil rights moment" for his cause, and in the process he will continue what he's been doing for the last 18 months: bending the history of 20th-century America like a Philadelphia soft pretzel.

The revisionist message behind "Restoring Honor" is nothing new for the conservative shock jock. In the year and half since President Obama took office, Beck has led his loyal followers on a journey not just to "reclaim" civil rights but much more audaciously to rewrite the sweeping narrative arc of American history from the time of the Founding Fathers forward.

“In this alternate reality version of the past, the 20th century’s heroic battles over equal rights for racial and ethnic minorities, women and homosexuals are recast as a march toward socialism and away from the Founding Fathers. Meanwhile, flawed progressive Woodrow Wilson and even Teddy Roosevelt become America’s Lenin and Trotsky while it is the pre-Depression-era Calvin Coolidge who belongs on Mount Rushmore.”

Uh.... Well, thing is, Bunch, that’s not re-writing history...it’s “un-burying” history.

Thanks for playing, though.

I’m sure Beck would differ with both of us if put up to some religious standard.

I’m used to it. Some Christians are brainwashed into believing that you cannot go to Heaven unless you believe their particular flavor of Christianity. I’m a Catholic, I believe in the tenets of the Catholic church. If they want to lambaste me for my beliefs, then so be it. They’ve degraded into petty religious differences rather than investigate the substance of Beck’s message.

Funny thing is, the Democrats, and their media lackeys are the ones re-writing history.

In our schools, in the courts, in our government, and in the media.

Lies upon lies upon lies.

Glenn Beck and Alveda King (and others) are trying to wake up the sleeping masses to this, and I for one support their efforts.

Your post is refreshing - VERY.
And rare.
It’s heartening to see there ARE Christians who are not Christian in name only but practice what the Savior taught.

Your post should be read by all and posted on every FR thread that mentions, gasp, “Mormons.”

Jesus knows His own.

I trust Him to do the sorting out.

I re-read this writing by Bunch, and I must say, he is either clueless or he is intentionally twisting reality to conform to the socialist agenda.

While all these histories are too important to lose to revisionism, none represents more of a risk than the civil rights era. In 1963, King understood that his dream of equal rights for black Americans would never happen without intervention from the federal government, a concept that's such an anathema to the Tea Partiers, the Beck-sponsored 9/12 movement and the other right-wing radicals who'll occupy the Mall this Saturday.

Surprise! Surprise! No mention that Alveda King is there to represent the King legacy.

Most moderates and liberals aren't even aware that this Hollywood-size script doctoring of U.S. history is taking place -- and the political consequences may be enormous. George Orwell wrote that "who controls the past ... controls the future." Beck and his fans may reclaim a lot more than the legacy of 1960s civil rights this weekend -- unless America's too silent majority is finally ready to start fighting back for our past.

"Who controls the past..." is an interesting choice of quotes, considering the socialist agenda has done precisely that!

1984 just took 24 years longer than expected, Mr. Bunch!

2008 was the year of the 0bama Regime takeover.

And we're here to take it back!

Good morning!

No, I haven't seen it. With friends and family in and out of Afghanistan regularly, I pretty much know how screwed up the situation is there.

I know 0bama won't fight his muzzie friends like we need to, so my opinion is, we should pull our ground troops back and hammer the enemy from the air.

But that's not gonna happen now, is it?

Pray for our brave fighting men and women! And pray for the end of the 0bama Regime!

My nephew was in Iraq during the first run into Fallujah.

He lost 2 men in his Stryker in the mess hall bombing.

I watched some video he put together (they all did it) with visions of the carnage put to music.

These boys are going through Hell over there. It makes me sick to think about it - about this POS President as CIC.

Beck still believes in the same God I do.

- - - - —
Let’s see now...

Glen Beck’s God....

Used to be human and a sinner
Wasn’t always God, but earned it
Is a polygamist
Had sex with Mary to conceive Jesus
Is NOT omnipotent, nor omnipresent
is only one of MILLIONS of Gods
lives near a planet called Kolob
Progresses
Changes and changes his mind

If you would like I can show that they worship A very different Christ than Catholics (and other Christians do).

I could go on but do you still think the Mormons worship the SAME God as you do?

I understand that many who don’t know what Mormons really teach and/or believe assume they are Christians because they say so, but Mormons are no more Christians than Muslims are.

BTW, I used to be Mormon and, yes, I DO consider Catholics to be Christians, but speaking from personal knowledge and experience, Mormons are NOT Christians.

Theology matters.

If you have any specific questions or would like documentation on the above teachings, feel free to ask.

Beck is preaching spiritual and religious renewal

- - - - -
Epic fail on this one, if you knew the Mormon vocab and doctrine, you would see he is actually preaching MORMONISM.

I get really sick of the Beck worship on this site. He isn’t a savior, even if he and his beck bots think he is...

Remember the white horse prophecy? I think we have a new candidate...
