(Aug. 25) -- A 50-year-old Sri Lankan woman who worked as a maid for a large family in Saudi Arabia for five months was allegedly tortured by some of the family members hammering nails into her body, doctors said.

The woman, who flew back to Colombo, Sri Lanka, from Riyadh on Saturday night, was brought to the hospital by her concerned children Monday. X-rays showed there were 23 nails embedded in her body.

"Some of the nails were 2 inches long," Dr. Prabath Gajadeera of Kamburupitiya Base Hospital told AOL News today. "Most of the nails were embedded in her arms and legs. She didn't even realize how many were in there."

Gajadeera said the woman told doctors that the Saudi family allegedly tortured her with nails and threatened her life with knives during her employment with them.

It makes a person wonder when is the UN going to start issuing statements?

US Foreign Aid recipients and voting at the United Nations

Snip:

Abstract: Since 2000 about 95 percent of U.N. member states that receive U.S. assistance have voted against the United States most of the time in the U.N. General Assembly on non-consensus votes. The U.S. should inform aid recipients that their support--or lack of support--for U.S. priorities in the U.N. and other international organizations will directly affect future decisions on allocating U.S. assistance.

2nd Snip:

The Obama Administration and Congress should recognize these realities and take several steps to increase the chances of garnering support for U.S. positions in the General Assembly. Specifically, the U.S. should: Explicitly link disbursement of U.S. development assistance to support for U.S. policy priorities in the U.N.

Saudi Arabia just really another Third World s-hole.

Not really. Saudi Arabia without oil is basically a primitive bedouin tribal culture.

A couple steps below third world.

Obozo should be making a human rights issue out of things like this, instead of saying the US is inhumane in not wanting illegal aliens on our soil. We don’t care if they are black, white, brown or yellow, if they are illegal then GO HOME and FIX your own country to your liking and leave us the hades alone.

“Because it is not our oil”
Could easily be. Check the rules of war.

Also, check laws regarding theft. Seems that which is stolen is always stolen. Saudi wells were once American owned.

Time to repossess.

I just want to have our country deal with our own issues.
Perhaps you will want your children to fight and die for oil, I would rather have my children fight for our freedom and liberty and work on getting oil gas and other energy in our own country.

“Perhaps you will want your children to fight and die for oil, I would rather have my children fight for our freedom and liberty and work on getting oil gas and other energy in our own country.”

I said we should repo the wells, Saudi, Mexican, Venezuelan - all of ‘em.

I did not say anything about fighting a ground war. Note carefully, that after either a saturation conventional bombing with fuel air bombs (Google “MOAB”), or a nuking, the operation of our repo’d wells will occur in an environment of peace and quiet.

I am of the opinion wars should be a video game for us, the end of their world as they know it for them.

Nothing is free, and the USA is having to play world peace officer, so let us set the price for that service.

Note that Rome allowed the people of Carthage to set the price for their grain for a while. Then they pushed the DELENDA button. That’s DELENDA as in CARTHAGO DELENDA EST.

Worked then. Can work now.

Difference betwen us, I dont want to play Rome, Rome was a fascist state, I want nothing to do with Fascism. We dont have to be the world cop. We just have to defend our shores.

Those wells did not belong to th United States, they belonged to corporations that took risks. They are not “ours” any more than any corporation is “ours.” Businsses take risks everyday, and it is not the up to the US citizens to take a risk for their profits.

My mom grew up under fascism, no picnic.

We have a lot to do here in the US

I would rather be able to follow the advice of the Founders - friend to all, ally to none. In the modern world, easier said than done.

We have to keep the savages in line, so bill them or collect their resources to cover costs plus a profit.

There was a day when Americans believed that any attack on an American, or theft from an American was a threat to their person or property. In this they were, of course, correct.

Therefore, play technological escalattio on their turd world hides until they do as we want.

It is good to be the most powerful SOB in the Valley.

We IMHO, do not have to keep the savages in line. We just have to secure and protect our country and its peoples. Let the savages kill each other. Let us wipe their leaders off the map if we are provoked. Let us mind our own business.
