Alaska Senate Race Gets Complicated
Mother Jones ^ | 8/25/10 | Kate Sheppard

Posted on 08/25/2010 2:13:52 PM PDT by CA Conservative

Well, this could make things even more interesting in Alaska. Tea party candidate Joe Miller looks likely to unseat incumbent Lisa Murkowski, but now the Daily Beast is reporting that the state's senior senator is mulling a third-party run.

While the deadline for independent candidates to file has passed, "a source within the Murkowski campaign says they know of one possible legal option to pursue a third party run."

And then it gets even more complicated, as rumors fly that Democrats might substitute former Alaska Gov. Tony Knowles for Scott McAdams, the winner of yesterday's primary, on the November ballot.

Oh, Alaska. Let no one ever say you don't give us plenty of stuff to write about.

So, in addition to the possibility that another RINO might make an independent run because they were defeated in the primary, the Dems are considering using the Lautenberg strategy - run one candidate in the primary, then replace him when yourealize he can't win.

What a bunch of crock. So these rinos want the same thing as the leftists do and that is well... you know it is coming if we don’t get this country on track. Dark times ahead.

Great. Good job taking a safe seat and turning it into a potential mess.

NO third party run. SHe would have had to be registered by June 2010, Also ALaska has a sore loser law that does not allow her to run.

Just imagine Mother Jones giving free advice to Republicans.

Kind of like Dick Cheney giving advice to the “Anti Gun” movement.

Yep, and early this morning I posted that the MSM political “reporters” tweets were all agitating for Lisa to run 3rd party, they were even researching Alaskan law (Larry Sabato) for her.

And now this, she obviously got the message that the MSM would cover for her at all costs.

Sick.

I just report - you decide. I don’t even know if the Dems can pull a Lautenberg in Alaska, but I wouldn’t put it past them to try, especially if Murkowski finds a way to run on a 3rd party ticket and split the GOP vote. (People have confirmed she can’t run as an independent, but might be able to represent the AIP.)

Especially so considering the remarkable ground he made up in just a few days. Imagine how bad the difference will be when he has until November to absolutely bury her.

I generally feel most Alaskans are a gritty and tough and if she does this it will go against her big time by those who actually voted for her this round.

If true, it sure sounds like it. On the bright side, Alaska voters are not as gullible as those in either New Jersey or Florida.

I think Miller wins as long as he can hold the primary lead.

I hope so. I was happy to see Marco Rubio do so well here yesterday. Great news out of alaska too, it looks like. Seems like a wave may be forming on the horizon.
