(TPM)- After ostensibly dissing his son and politicians like him who oppose the Cordoba House project in Manhattan over the weekend, Ron Paul took to the airwaves to defend Rand Pauls view on the project while also making it clear he disagrees with it.
To recap: Rand, like many politicians running in tight races this year, is opposed to building the Muslim community center, and has further called on American Muslims to donate the money that would be spent on building the community center to 9/11 victims families as a show of reconcilliation. In a blog post over the weekend, Ron Paul ripped into views like that, claiming that any opposition to the project was all about hate and Islamaphobia.
In a pair of CNN interviews last night and this morning, Ron stuck to his guns about the community center project opposition is nothing but a political game being ginned up by bigots. He even went so far as to say he and Rand are on different sides of the issue. But he said Rands opposition to the project did not suggest hes bigoted toward Muslims.
I dont put everybody whos a candidate in that same category youll have to ask him for his reasons, Ron Paul said on Anderson Cooper 360 last night. But, no, everybody whos opposing [the Cordoba House] doesnt even understand foreign policy or why were in Afghanistan and Iraq.
They dont have the understanding and they dont make the connection. My goal is to make the connection for people to understand why Al Qaeda has become so militant and hateful towards us and why painting Islam with a broad brush makes our problems worse because were not zeroing down on the real cause and those who perpetuated 9/11.

It all makes sense when you consider Nut Paul’s opposition to the War On Terror.
Isn’t Dweezle Zappers a blog? This is in the wrong category.
If it’s “news,” they are about a week late with it. Been posted about a dozen times as a news story.
I’m an Islamophobe.
I don’t like Islam.
I don’t trust Muslims, especially those who say they come in peace.
I believe that Islam is as Islam does, and has done.
Any questions, Mr. Paul?
Anyone who does not fear their perverted, crazy approach to peace is being irrational.
*And still ? many here on FR swear by this fool*
Yes and Paul and his ilk are free to be fools. And you and I free to hate muslim extremists; and to point and laugh at fools!

Goofball.
I’m no Ron Paul fan, but after trying to follow the referenced links through a circle of blog links, there doesn’t seem to be a credible source for these comments actually originating from Rep. Paul. I’m not doubting that it is consistent with his previous positions, but this seems to be an effort to tar his son’s campaign. Nuttiness is the domain of Paulbots. Let us stick to the facts, in order to draw a sharper contrast to their wackiness.
The Twin towers were attcked first by MOSLEMS who detonated bombs with Cyanide to kill everyone in the towers.
They failed.
Then it was attacked the second time in 2001 by (guess who) MOSLEMS in airplanes in which they killed 3000 people.
Now, if someone in the twin towers quit their job after the first failed attack BY MOSLEMS could we call them Islamaphobes?
NO MORE MOSQUES!
Paul, you old fool. You need to just shut the h*ll up and retire.
As usual Ron Paul the perennial gadfly is out of step with patriotic Americans. He just keeps his proverbial foot stuck in his mouth.
The true “Islamophobes” are those that bend over backwards to avoid offending them out of fear of violent retaliation.
There is nothing wrong with saying, “No, you may not have a victory mosque here.”
Spot on, Mr. B.
