Results TBD 08/24/2010 Late PM PDT/MST.
It’s standard in most polling places that you can’t bring or wear any campaign material with 100 yards of the polling site. You can stand outside and campaign.
How does the turnout look so far?
I suspect a low turnout would aid JD Hayworth a great deal.
Turnout is low in my area. At 9 am (3 hours into voting) there were only 44 and it was noted by one of the workers that it was VERY slow. It is hot and muggy today already.
With 44 votes in (all parties), my family alone will account for nearly 10% of that.
I don’t think McCain voters are worried or super motivated in this area, especially with reports of how well McCain is doing in the polls... supposedly.
We shall see.
BTW... On our ballots, Hayworth is at the top, followed by McCain, then Deakin.

Take immigration. In 2008, in the heat of the presidential campaign, McCain told Univision that his plan for the Mexican border did not include “fences and walls,” but facing a tough Republican primary challenge from former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, McCain cut a television ad in which he walked along a remote border fence with an Arizona sheriff and said, “Complete the dang fence.”
McCain had cosponsored comprehensive immigration reform legislation with Sen. Ted Kennedy in years past, but now argues that the borders must be better secured before a more comprehensive solution can be pursued. He was one of a handful of Republicans to vote with most Democrats in favor of comprehensive immigration reform legislation supported by President Bush in 2005 and 2006.
I just got back from voting for JD.
Down here in Sierra Vista, McCain is on top followed by Deakin then JD.
We had 27 voters in the first hour - slow.

I had to wait for 3 people. I was number 13 according to the scanning machine. The news is saying turnout is about 25%.

I place my bet on November 5. He still has to win the general election.
My guess is that JD would benefit...

The news reports are saying turnout in AZ is low. I am not in AZ but I would guess JD voters are motivated.
