As more states consider copying Arizonas harsh anti-immigration law, at least one states GOP leaders decided against taking a stance on the measure. The California Republican party did not endorse Arizonas SB 1070 during its semiannual convention this weekend, despite a push for a vote of support by conservative activists in the state.
The party skipped over a resolution that would have stated the partys support for SB 1070 and Proposition 187, a 1994 effort to cut public benefits to undocumented immigrants.
But gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman has stated opposition to both SB 1070 and Proposition 187, and there was some concern last week that her stance would cause tension for the party. Some party activists accused Whitman last week of trying to block the vote over SB 1070 support. She planned to leave the conference before the vote was to occur.

WIMPS!
RINOs like the RINO GOP in FL and in TX.
I’ve stepped on better things than Meg Whitman
That was the first word that came to my mind as I read the first sentence!
The GOP needs to grow a pair.
There is no conservative party in California.
Hate America Pantie waists.
Yes, there is. The American Independent Party, which is affiliated with our national party, America's Independent Party.
Personhood pro-life. Peace through Strength. Pro-natural-family. Pro-border security and national sovereignty. Pro-Constitution. A true Reaganite party.
We're having to rebuild it from the bottom up, which takes time, but it's happening.
California will remain in trouble, unless true conservatism, ever, takes over California. Same with Massachusetts, Illinois, and others.
Oop’s Thought we were talking about the GOP Capons.
Are you trying to give me indigestion?
RINO’s are nothing if not cowardly.
This is the equivalent of sacrificing a pawn. There is no reason to fight a losing battle in August when there is a possibility of gains, big gains in November.
Once a new and hopefuly stronger position is established, the battle can be engaged from strength rather than weakness.
That battle may never be fought though , it is California.
Naturally they don’t want to “offend Hispanic voters”
Never mind that a good chunk of legal Hipanics favor the law. Or that, no matter what, the Republicans will not get the Hispanic vote anyway.
“This is the equivalent of sacrificing a pawn”
To whom?
Are Hispanics (the legal ones) going to vote Republican now?
First, the Cal GOP are a joke. Second, “harsh”??? What’s harsh about protecting yourself??
This is why they are known as the loser party. These are so-called Republican’s in a state that is LITERALLY being strangled to death by illegal aliens. Wow.
These bums need to be thrown out and replaced just as much as the dems.
