Mercy School opens new building in Oklahoma City

At the start of each school day, Muslim students kneel on large colorful prayer rugs and recite verses from the Quran.

In addition to reading, writing and arithmetic, the young people learn Arabic, delve into Islamic studies and explore the holy book of their faith. Young girls wearing white hijabs talk animatedly in the hallways as they head to afternoon prayer.

It's all happening at the new $9 million Mercy School complex which opened earlier this month just northwest of the intersection of Memorial Road and Santa Fe Avenue in northwest Oklahoma City. The school complex at 14001 N Harvey is nestled among several small businesses and abuts the Glen Oaks neighborhood.

I'd like to know the source of the FUNDING for this "school." I have this uneasy feeling it was paid for by the very people they hope to destroy--us.

I was born and raised Catholic and went to Catholic schools from 5th-12th. Brown shoes, jumpers, white scarf for mass.

We always had to have something on our head for church.

The Italian ladies normally had black headscarfs.

And these things WERE mandatory. It was about respect.
