Democrats again used former President George W. Bush as a foe in their latest TV ad campaign, driving home the point Republicans would restore policies that helped create the economic downturn.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) released a new cable ad Friday that harped on their campaign message that the November midterm elections will be a choice between Democratic policies that will bring the country out of the recession versus Republican policies that helped created it.
No Republican is used in the ad aside from Bush -- who is shown saying "you can fool me but you can't get fooled again."
Debate has swirled whether or not using Bush as a campaign foil will work for Democrats in the 2010 cycle, two years after Bush left office.
Republicans -- especially those who worked in the Bush administration -- have said it is a tired argument that will not resonate with voters.
But many Democrats have countered, saying that using Bush will give voters a clearer idea of what they are voting for if they back Republicans in the fall. The DNC said the ad will air on national cable networks.
A Democratic official who released the ad said that "the ad -- 'Big Choices' -- amplifies the choice voters are going to face this fall between Democrats who have pulled the country out of the ditch and Bush Republican era policies which put us there."
The spot emphasizes that Democrats favor "investing" in manufacturing, education, a "clean energy" economy and want to put Main Street ahead of Wall Street.
WOW that will work....they wont elect him anymore.
(dooooooooooooooshbags.)
I saw a poll the other day where Bush actually is now more popular than Obama.
They treat BDS like herpes, I don’t think they are ever going to get over it.
When you search "out-of-touch" on the web, a picture of the Dems pops up. Personally, I want them to keep running against Bush, it only underscores how out-of-touch they are!!
Yeah... Americans would hate to return to 4.5% unemployment and low income taxes. /s
That’s fine. Let them run against President Bush. This works well for us, as Mr. Bush is more popular than the anti-Christ Obama in battleground congressional districts.
The POS (Party of Satan) is spending their money to help our candidates. Thank you very much.
They refuse to ever accept responsibility. Spoiled petulant children are running the nation.
Libs missed the part where Bush isn’t running for office.
The dems can’t run on their voting records or accomplsihments because everything they have accomplished has been against what the American people have told them that they want or don’t want.
The dems have governed against the collective will of the American people.
All the dems have is Bush and that horse is dead as a doornail because the dems have beat it to death.
Bush's Miss Me Yet T-Shirt a Best Seller at Martha's Vineyard
True enough! LOL
haha... I just have to laugh. All the GOP now has to do is connect CONGRESS and the Democrat control of it since Jan 2007 to the economic downturn, and its GAME OVER for the dims. America is now well aware, once again, of what Congress’ role in screwing the nation is.
The Dems have proven themselves to be just brilliantly stupid.
Yeah... Americans would hate to return to 4.5% unemployment and low income taxes. /sWe can't have that.
“As I was tumbling down the stair,
I cursed the man who wasn’t there... “
(Apologies for the mis-quote)
Contemplate, for a moment, the political genius behind the Bush decision to maintain a low (nonexistent, really) profile after leaving office....
If the Democrats have pulled me out of the ditch how come I cannot see over the top, and I am covered in mud and water.
I feel like they dug the ditch deeper and then started using it as a slit trench.
It really is all they have. They obtained power on nothing but blaming Bush and celebrating every death in Iraq calling it a defeat and the “wrong war” (now proclaimed a victory by the Ruling Class). Oh yeah, throw in some hope and change in there as well.
They said to the American People, “Bush started a fire and you need to elect us to put it out.” Fine, let us accept that premise about Bush starting the fire as true arguendo. It misses the point. The American People did not call in the Obama fire department just so it could show up and pour gas on the fire. The dems don’t get it. You can’t say “trust us” and then turn around and say “screw you.”.
