A former Northwest Rankin High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student will not be going to jail, court officials said.
Kelly Finn Blossom pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of sexual battery and was given a 20-year suspended sentence along with five years probation, court officials said.
Rankin County District Attorney Michael Guest said that he wanted jail time, but the family of the victim asked that the teenager not be called to testify.
The boy told investigators that he had sex with Blossom after school and on the weekends at the high school. The investigation began in April 2009, after the teen's parents contacted the Flowood Police Department. Authorities said there we're at least four sexual encounters between Blossom and the student.
Blossom's trial was scheduled to begin on Tuesday. She was facing four counts of sexual battery with a maximum penalty of 30 years on each count.
Blossom worked at Northwest Rankin High School as a teacher from August 2008 until April 2009 when she was released, school officials said.

Yep. Guilty.
The kid did not testify. Did she plead guilty? I am not condoning this but did they have any evidence besides the kid’s allegations?

If this were a male perp, he’d be headed for jail, and after the court showed it’s mercy, minus his genitalia.
Guilty, but Lazwouldhitit (GBLWHI)
The OldPossum wouldn’t kick her out of bed.
Finn is a man’s name. Guilty on those grounds alone.
I’d use my late Friday night pick up line on her:
“You’ll do.”
The OldPossum wouldnt kick her out of bed.
A perfectly normal reaction for an “Old”Possum! LOL!!
A mug shot is never acceptable for a FReep verdict of guilty, though it frequently is used to dismiss all charges.
Upon further review I would have to give a not guilty.
agreed
Each Freeper must vote their conscience or lack thereof what ever the case must be.
Not guilty when hard up.
