SNIPPET: "While the debate over mosque development in New York continues to dominate the news cycle, opposing sides in the Israeli blockade on Gaza are gearing up for a new round of confrontations that could take place as soon as next month.
Although the list of items restricted from entering Gaza has been dramatically reduced, George Galloway, the ex-British MP who runs the group Viva Palestina, promises a new land convoy leaving from London, Casablanca and Doha September 18. Galloway has made it clear his mission has more to do with supporting Hamas than with supplying Palestinians in Gaza with aid. Medical supplies, baby formula and other goods promised for the flotilla currently flow into Gaza from both Israeli and Egyptian borders.
A coalition of European groups is promising a separate flotilla by year's end.
Israeli navy commandos, meanwhile, are training on how to deal with violent and armed flotilla passengers without getting hurt and possibly without hurting their attackers. The BBC's Jane Corbin spent time with the Special Forces unit as it trained at sea on a ship similarly proportioned to the Mavi Marmara ship in the last flotilla."

SNIPPET: “Journalists in the Arab world have come out in support of Israel in the aftermath of last month’s flotilla incident, which left 9 dead after Hamas-tied “humanitarian activists” attacked Israeli commandos with clubs, knives, and other weapons.
The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) released excerpts from an interview with Magdi Khalil, an Egyptian-American writer, aired on June 15 on Al-Jazeera TV. Khalil explains:
“The Turkish ship, however, was organized by a known terrorist organization, which has appeared on the terror list since 1997. The IHH [The Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief] is a terrorist organization. It was foolish of the Israeli defense minister to believe the Turkish prime minister, who said that these were peaceful people. The Turkish prime minister is an Islamist and should not be trusted to begin with.”
Khalil’s assertions have been confirmed by intelligence experts— IHH has ties to both Hamas and Al-Qaeda. The organization planted 40 IHH operatives on the Mavi Marmara ship to create a violent confrontation with Israel. Those who died have been celebrated as martyrs by IHH and its supporters.”

SNIPPET: “Majlis National Security Committee chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Egyptian parliament, Muhammad Al-Fiqi, has authorized the members of the Iranian flotilla, which is to arrive via the Suez Canal, to enter Gaza through the Rafah border crossing.
Boroujerdi clarified that this flotilla, which includes Majlis members, is distinct from the one being organized by the Iranian Red Crescent.”

The Iranian Red Crescent is planning to send two ships to Gaza this week it was announced on Monday.
AFP quotes Red Crescent director for international affairs Abdolrauf Adibzadeh as saying: “One ship will carry donations made by the people and the other will carry relief workers. The ships will be sent to Gaza by end of this week.”

Iran Revolutionary Guards ready to escort Gaza ships 06 Jun 2010 12:40:35 GMT Source: Reuters TEHRAN, June 6 (Reuters) - Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards are ready to provide a military escort to cargo ships trying to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza, a representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.
“Iran’s navy forces are ready to escort the peace flotilla to Gaza with all their powers and capabilities,” Ali Shirazi, Khamenei’s representative inside the Revolutionary Guards, was quoted as saying by the semi-official Mehr news agency.
Any intervention by the Iranian military would be considered highly provocative by Israel which accuses Iran of supplying weapons to Hamas, the Islamist movement which rules Gaza.
The Guards, with their own navy, air force and command structure separate from the regular armed forces, are seen as fiercely loyal to the values of the Islamic Republic.
“If the Supreme Leader issues an order for this then the Revolutionary Guard naval forces will do their best to secure the ships,” Shirazi said. “It is Iran’s duty to defend the innocent people of Gaza.”

Galloway, a former member of parliament, flew to Beirut to accept the TAKREEM Award for Exceptional Contribution to Arab Society.
The Investigative Project on Terrorism’s translation of the Arabic article reveals that Galloway visited the office of Abu Imad Rifai, the representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Lebanon. Three others accompanied Galloway, including Viva Palestina leader Kevin Ovenden, and Rov Hoveman, a Viva Palestina spokesman and former assistant to Galloway when he served as a British MP. Several other leaders of PIJ in Lebanon received Galloway and his delegation.
The United States named the Palestinian Islamic Jihad a foreign terrorist organization in 1995. The European Union has a similar designation. The group is responsible for dozens of large-scale suicide bombings against Israeli civilians, resulting in the death of American citizens as well.”
