BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A large fight broke out late last week on a cruise ship based out of Port Canaveral and the captain of the Carnival Dream ended up throwing ten passengers off the ship. They were left in Costa Maya, Mexico.
Carnival says they made arrangements for the ten people thrown off the ship to get home, along with an 11th person that was part of their party; they do not face any charges.
What prompted the brawl is still not clear. While the Carnival Dream was sailing between Belize and Costa Maya, the brawl broke out. Ron Peczinka of St. Cloud said he woke up in his cabin to the sound of people running down the hallways.
My friend's cabin, they knocked on his door and told him to lock his door, not to come out in the hallway until, you know, until morning, Peczinka said.
The next morning, Peczinka said he noticed picture frames in a ship gallery shattered and security officers positioned in more visible locations throughout the ship.
I'd sailed on other ships before, and there was never anything like this that happened on another ship. I think it's disgraceful that they allowed something like this to happen, he said.

what cruise line does THAT happen on!?!
I need to book my tickets :)
The local Federales will probably make them long for the cruise ship security staff.
“When the gangstas find out they have been dumped in the middle of nowhere, I just wonder how that inevitable inner city, chip-on-shoulder tude is going to play with the Mexicans.

So how do you say:
“Man this is some sh!t, MoFo” en Espanol?
Maybe we should export some weak, self-hating, progressive whites from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, to kiss their semi-civilized asses, and make the thugs feel at home.
Carnival.
"..If you read the full thread it doesnt look like actual gangs were involved..."And yet one account stated that after the initial wilding/riot/mayhem one group searched for the other group throughout the ship, ostensibly to fight and do more violence.
Also, they were from New York, so I'm getting an "urban" vibe. Read: ghetto.
I think you have the visual just about right!
You know, to some degree the same is true of flying now a days. I’m glad it’s much cheaper than it was before dergulation, but the nature of flyers (and service) has changed.
I think it would be really cool if they were actually “thrown off” the ship, as in thrown overboard. Let them swim to the next port. That’ll be the last time they try that.
Yes, I’m just old enough to remember the days before deregulation. There were not as many security risks. I also worked for a company that use to put me into business class. Flying was very enjoyable. Most of the time my company was paying for it. There were few hassles with security and the flight attendants and staff were very friendly. I can even remember playing cards with some believe it or not. There were almost no passengers on that flight. Flying was fun and now it’s real misery. Those were the days.
Has anyone here gone on a cruise?
I want to take my children on one (from florida or somehing)
I heard a comedian on SirriusXM the other day talking about how everyone on board wad a big fat wad - is that true?
The best one for kids out of Florida is Disney but it’s pricey. You’ll find the lowest class of people on Carnival and/or the 3 day cruises.
The cruise line can't help it if idiots start fighting, and if there are 10 or more folks, as was this fight, it would take a bit to get them under control, because they can run away from being nabbed, and go virtually anywhere on the ship. The crew did the right thing by keeping folks in their rooms, so that those not involved wouldn't get caught up in the fracas.
Putting the goobers off in Mexico, and requiring them to make their own way home, paid for by the cruise line was the perfect solution. They don't have to pay to get home, and the rest of the passengers don't have to inconvenienced by the idiots.
I didnt know the WTO was hosting their summit on a cruise ship this week.
My husband will not set foot on a large cruise ship. He likens it to being in prison, except in prison, there's no chance of drowning. ;o) In a few years, he and I plan to go on a European River Cruise, and see some of the medieval city centers along the Rhine, Rhone or maybe the Danube. They're fairly small ships, and the folks who go on them are mostly older, retired folks. Fine with me, they won't keep us up late at night with their partying.

Olivia Cruises. Guaranteed.
A friend of mine was on this ship when this happened. He said they were all black passengers and acted like a budge of hoodlums...
The story seems to go out of its way to not state the obvious...
If it had of been whites, I’m sure the race would be mentioned in the story.
I can remember that too. I also remember smoking on an airplane, however crude that may sound now. :)
