A website that lists the victims of Righthaven LLC's "shake down" lawsuits that are causing irreparable harm to the blogging, non-profit and small business communities.
Righthaven LLC -- a bottom feeding legal outfit -- has teamed up with the Las Vegas Review-Journal to sue 'mom and pop' websites, as well as nonprofit, political action, community action, writers, and forum board operators for copyright violations. The strategy of Righthaven is to sue hundreds and thousands of these websites and counts on the fact that many are unfunded and will be forced to "settle out of court." All cases are being filed in a Nevada Federal Court and must be fought in this jurisdiction. You are not safe from Righthaven if you are out-of-state. Are you their next victim?

As I said, GREED at its worse. They are like an animal that is cornered, they will try to fight back.
I agree on the practice of doing a short excerpt and a link or do your own commentary, cite the sources, use these “ “ and in the case of videos, thank the person and the source for the video.
But what is going on I am VERY CONCERNED it could produce a chilling effect. Plus I suspect this company is in bigtime financial problems.
They are going after anyone and everyone. Right and left political sites, and non political sites as well. Bottom feeding pond scum shakedown artists. Getting rich through lawfare. I guess ambulance chasing wasn’t working out, so this is their new game.

What we really need is a complete boycott of LVRJ. If people stopped reading anything on their website, they would have no hits and therefore no advertising dollars. If they had no advertising dollars, they’d shut down the site rather than continue to pay for something that doesn’t bring revenue. Their demise would send a clear message to other newspapers not to enable similar scams by selling copyrights to crooked lawyers.
Shoot, you can have all three!
Shoot, I bet there's a lot of people out there better at litigation-as-a-weapon than he is. Better be careful what you ask for....
I would say the SOB extends to the unnamed at LVRJ who is consorting with the legal shyster. Surely there is a name attached to the one at LVRJ who is leading the charge. Sufficient bad press should be able to change things for the better. Hope and change! Heard that somewhere.
Has anyone thought about trying to file an anti-SLAPP lawsuit against RightHaven? Not sure how applicable it would be, but their lawsuits against all these bloggers definitely does seem like a concerted effort to deny people their right to publically use their freedom of speech.
Where are the lawyers on the right going after these scum and making it too expensive to play their game?
The right needs asap to learn the rules of this knife fight.
Isn’t there a legal rule that the wronged party must make a good faith attempt to mitigate his damages? That is what a cease and desist would do. By skipping the cease and desist, Wrongshaven puts itself and its future on thin ice, should any target become so outraged that it decides money is no object.
They are very stupid.
Dear Jim—you need to contact Breitbart for advice. He has a lot of experience with stuff like this.
