Right Wing Bloggers Choose '25 Worst Figures In American History'
The blog Right Wing News asked "more than a hundred bloggers" who they thought were the worst people in American history. The results may shock you! Or maybe not. Jane Fonda makes the cut, along with FDR. Let's look.
This question was put out to over 100 crazies with internet connections:
Out of all the gangsters, serial killers, mass murderers, incompetent & crooked politicians, spies, traitors, and ultra left-wing kooks in all of American history have you ever wondered who the worst of the worst was?"
Some of the answers are a given, but some (Richard Nixon?!) are a little surprising considering who did the voting. And some are actually pretty good (Michael Moore, Timothy McVeigh). Those questioned were asked to rank as many as 20 people from America's past and present who they felt fit the bill. Here are the results, from 43 bloggers who responded:
23) Saul Alinsky (7)
23) Bill Clinton (7)
23) Hillary Clinton (7)
19) Michael Moore (7)
19) George Soros (8)
19) Alger Hiss (8)
19) Al Sharpton (8)
13) Al Gore (9)
13) Noam Chomsky (9)
13) Richard Nixon (9)
13) Jane Fonda (9)
13) Harry Reid (9)
13) Nancy Pelosi (9)
11) John Wilkes Booth (10)
11) Margaret Sanger (10)
9) Aldrich Ames (11)
9) Timothy McVeigh (11)
7) Ted Kennedy (14)
7) Lyndon Johnson (14)
5) Benedict Arnold (17)
5) Woodrow Wilson (17)
4) The Rosenbergs (19)
3) Franklin Delano Roosevelt (21)
2) Barack Obama (23)
1) Jimmy Carter (25)
One surprising omission is John Hinckley, Jr., the man who shot The Greatest Conservative of All Time, Ronald Reagan. Any others? Keith Olbermann, perhaps?
That’s so mean, but I laughed my a- off. It’s not a big deal now, because they’ve broken the curse. But I remember watching that game, looked good for them, and my born-in-Boston relative said, “don’t worry, they’ll blow it.” ;’D
Interesting choices! and well said.
You forgot George Washington, the Abraham Lincoln of his day. Sheesh.
Alexander Hamilton was THE American conservative.
Justice William Brennan, the driving force behind Roe V Wade.
What, in a race that has Landslide Lyndon (I think he connived at Kennedy's shooting), Mr. Federal Teats for Everybody, and Slick Willie in it?
And Obozo the Communist?
Hard to believe you like Wilson over those two.
He gave Clinton a second term. As to "lasting effect" let's wait and see what things look like after our first war with the MIRV'ed and W-88-armed Chinese. They stole the W-88 with Clinton's help during his second term, the one he purchased with their reptile money.
Black and Burger? How about Felix "Positivism" Frankfurter, William O. "Penumbra" Douglas, and Billy "Awww, Come On, You Know You Like Me" Brennan? The worst log-rolling, Constitution-subverting justices in recent history?
And John Marshall started the whole thing rolling. From arguing reserved powers at the Virginia ratification convention, he went to absolutist judicial review and other implied powers on the Court, and doing things like arguing that the "general welfare" clause lets Congress claim any power it likes. He wound up being as bad as Hamilton, and even worse, because Hamilton didn't have an entire branch of the Government behind him.
Those are excellent additions to the list, and they caused far greater harm to the nation than Michael Moore.
What?!
If you think "conservatism" = empire without the king.
That's what Hamilton was all about. "What's good for General Bullmoose/Is good for the U.S.A.!" could have been his slogan (hat tip to cartoonist Al Capp).
And the FBI should definitely take McVeigh's place...

Thomas Jefferson and his party supported the French Revolution. Hamilton was horrified by it.
I'd hate to know your opinion of George Washington.
Excellent additions.
But watch out...FR would have been a Federalist group back then, loving ol' Alex.
Watch out for the Claremont big-government crowd. As right as your answer is, it's not PC.
One of GHWB's good suggestions--to eliminate withholding. Wow, how that would have ripped through America, tearing liberal spending asunder!
When I visited Mount Vernon, the guide pointed out a key hanging on the wall. It was originally a key to the Bastille, and was a gift to Washington from the French Revolutionary (and former adviser to Gen'l Washington) Marquis de Lafayette.
The French Revolution was a demonic horror, but that fact was not immediately obvious.
What about Roger Brooke Taney - Chief Justice of the United States from 1836 to 1864?
He has no influence!
If you can find the original charter you will want to resurrect the A-HOLE numerous times so that he can be executed over and over.
Richard Nixon?? Worst?? Nahhhh........
Excellent nomination.
