Spain's plans to have 2,000 electric cars on the road by the end of 2010 have been dealt a blow as figures showed just 16 have been sold.
The government-backed REVE electric car and wind power project said 15 cars had been sold so far this year, in addition to one last year.

Very soon you’ll have a knock from a CA gubmint bureaucrat with an armed police escort who will drag your 1986 Explorer away and in return give a $1,000 rebate on a Government Motors Dolt.
That is EXACTLY what that letter smacked of. It said “You aren’t required to do anything” but the unwritten subtext is exactly what you say.
You know it's bad when they have to go two years back and re-count the ONE CAR sold that year to improve their count to 16.
Have you thought of writing a reply back? You could start a vanity thread on FR by posting the text of the letter and asking for responses to it. After everyone has had their say write up a snarky reply to those bureaucratic idiots but first post what you plan to send for comments and criticisms. Once you get the final copy written post it on the same thread, send it to those Mandarins, and see what happens.
Build the cars without engines.
They’ll be light enough to push.
They can still have a country that looks like The Flintstones, they’ll just have to replace the dinosaurs with modern animals.
This is the future...but only if the overlords/Oligarchs in DC let it happen...(DC makes more money/gallon of gas than any other entity in the world)...or We the People make it happen..

We are witnessing the emerging of the new generation of cars.
The new Hyundai i-flow is a powerful car concept with an imaginative and magic exterior, wise engineering under the hood and in the unbelievable beautiful car interior.
At the 2010 Geneva motor show debut, Hyundai i-flow gets the silence and wonder from the present press and spectators.
New Hyundai i-flow is a technological wonder with an animal shape. The car is standing still but the spectator had a feeling that the i-flow will jump ahead in any moment. It is like a big predator ready to wake up and jump on his pray.

” Hyundai i-flow is a diesel electric hybrid with a fuel consumption of only 3 liters per 100 kilometers. If we have in mind that i-flow is a car with an overall length of 4.78 meters and 2.8 meters of wheel base this result is amazing. With i-flow, Hyundai is bringing a new quality and set up a new hard to reach standards in the European D-segment. The width of the car is 1.85 meters and height is 1.42 meters.”

diesel-electric technology has been used by locomotives since the 1950’s...its why you see the ads about rail freight moving 2000lbs at a fuel efficiency of over 400 mi/gallon

A scan of that letter would be a good post.
Also, the golf carts on the road now will be starting to have PMS(batteries starting to fail), just as the dolt rolls slowly to market.
So that news should help(depending on whose side your on).
$775 Million to subsidize 16 cars...
That comes out to $48 Million per car...
Suddenly, the $89,000 subsidy for each $37,000 Chevy Volt does not seem like such a bad deal.
And if the Spanish Government is willing to give me the $48 Million, I will gladly take one of their electric cars off their hands...
I, too, would love to see a copy of that letter...
Yes, scan it & put it up.
It would spread quickly!
I thought about sending them a response. But would all my FRiends come visit me at San Quentin?
LOL! Good question. I’m not sure how many would.
And at the current rate of sales it will only take them a hair of 130 years to reach their goal.
