A New York City judge has granted bail for a flight attendant accused of cursing out a passenger on an airplane public-address system, grabbing some beer from the galley and exiting on an emergency slide.
Steven Slater is charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and trespassing.
Defense attorney Howard Turman asked a judge in Queens Tuesday to release him without bail.
The judge instead set bail at $2,500. Slater smiled slightly as he was escorted into the courtroom.

he OPENED THE CHUTE!!!!!! OMG!! Why have the company PAY to have that chute put back??? TOTALLY PUNK KID ACTION!
Mark my words, when all is said and done, this Steven Slater will have made six figures telling his story to all the tabloids and talk shows and whatnot. Who knows, he might even have his own TV sitcom. Sure, he'll probably have to pay a hefty fine and do some community service but in the end, he'll be able to make a decent living with his notoriety and will be laughing all the way to the bank.
("Coffee, tea, or grief?")
Cheers!
He’s an iconic figure who got fed up with dealing with the thankless public and made his exit with drama and style!
I mean, who of us doesn’t just want to blow a poisoned dart at those losers who have to jump out of their seats before the plane even arrives at the gate in order to stand mooing about with their fellow cattle for the 20 minutes it takes for the line to start filing out of the plane?
So yes, I like the guy. Notwithstanding the humorless prigs tsk tsking him!
The ultimate, “Screw You Guys, I’m Going Home.”

Cheers!
What a creep. I have no sympathy for him.
Do the terms “homo” and “drama queen” compute?
Re “humorless prigs”
Well, we should all applaud and have a good laugh at the guy totally losing his mind and completely violating his safety training. Personally, I wouldn’t care to be endangered by the likes of him.
I have a zesty sense of humor, but Slater’s antics don’t qualify.
He’s getting raked over the coals more than most gangbangers.
And he didn’t hurt anybody!
This is much ado about nothing.....the place was stopped for God’s sakes.
I could not agree more! The socialite in switzerland, who killed her three young children, is being treated more sympathetically than Slater!
The plane was on the ground; he was dealing with an abusive passenger. He snapped (actually deployed). Ramp down (no one in area...no one hurt); resigned; grabbed a beer and slide into infamy. I hope he gets some sort of commercial deal, and that he gets to spend quality time with his cancer stricken mom.
Dare to be outrageous and dare to be flamboyant!
The funniest part of the original article yesterday was when the Port Authority cops caught up with him at his house, he was found in a sexual embrace with his “lover”.
The grabbing the beer part was a nice touch.
LOL! Yes, I loved that part too.
He did make his exit with drama and style!!
It’s the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Who is as Mad as Hell and Not Going to Take it Anymore!!!
Whereas previously you might have gone home, taken out your gun, and shot either yourself or your nagging wife, now you can tell the bastards to F off, grab a few beers, and exit in a way that makes every other unhappy man jealous!!
Perhaps you missed the part where the plane was AT THE GATE not IN THE SKY!
Safety my sweet patootie!
You’re way over the top.
That's OK, it'll be legendary soon enough! Best departure from an airplane (on style points) since DB Cooper.
At least he is not all over the TV whining and claiming he be given some sort of special prviledge to throw a hissy fit on a plane because “gays have been persecuted for so long” or some thing.
He got mad, told the world to F off, and dashed out the exit with some beers. On the SLIDE no less!
There’s just something about that that I like...
